Title: Cambridge Audio Minx XL Bookshelf Speakers
Post by: Scobie on December 16, 2020, 09:53:53 pm
Wondered if anyone has any experience/opinion on these, https://www.cambridgeaudio.com/row/en/products/speakers/minx/xl .

I'm in the market for some bookshelf speakers to go with my Cambridge CXR120 receiver, but am too much of a Cambridge fanboy to decide objectively whether there are other better options for the same price or cheaper.

From what I can gather they are a pretty good speaker, and stack up well against most in that price bracket, and speaker/amp matching (for what it is worth, debatable I know) might give them an advantage in my setup.

Any opinions appreciated.

Cheers

Difficult to advice.
You should take your amp and cables to a hifi shop and have them connected to multiple speakers.
Use a few songs that cover your range of music.
Like Bob Marley's "Turn Your Lights Down Low" (Space) (one of the best songs displaying stereo compartments)
The intro of Kate Bush's of Wuthering heights (Details)
Mike Oldfield's "Pran's Departure" (Dynamics)

Just sit and listen and buy those that sound the best within your budget.

I had the same thing, but than with NAD and Dali. I went home with speakers from Focal.  :o
