Title: Media Juke Box Free???
Post by: Aarend on January 26, 2009, 02:22:26 pm
I used to have a Media Center licence for version 9; 10, 11 and 12. They always used to say I could still use my 'old' license to play my media.

I'm stil waiting how I can activate my version 12 again!

You have a license for Media Center 12.

You can download it from the top thread here:
http://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php?board=12.0

If you have a problem restoring your license, please post details and we will help you.

Thanks.

I can restore my Mediajukebox 8, Media Center 9, 10, 11, 12 and 13 licenses by using the restore service. All old versions work fine with their restored licenses on my PCs. (I have reinstalled them a couple of times for testing backwards compatibility).

The last installers for each old version are also freely available, but you may need to ask or read the FAQ thread to find them.

Only the internal database is not backwards compatible, but that is expected when new features are added to a program.

Thank you for the link.

But it does not work. My computer (windows XP) is telling me that I have no rights te use this program, although I'm the administrator. Could it be because I already installed MC13 for trial?
Should I delete that version?
Should I previous delete MC12?
What if I restore my music database, will my music have the same personal ratings as before? Would I keep my comentlines?

Help, Help. I miss my MC! And I won't like to pay again, while I just had to buy a house...

Download this file and run it.
ftp://ftp.jriver.com/pub/downloads/MC12/MediaCenter120534.exe

You may need to re-license.

Aarend,

You can find license restore instructions here: http://www.jrmediacenter.com/buy_12.html

The library issue (if any) is different. Depending on what you actually did to your old MC12 instance you may or may not have a backup copy of your old library (aka MC's database). If you still have the old library in the default location MC12 will use it automatically. In addition, MC12 may have stored automatic backup copies. You can check if any library backup files exist by using the "File > Library > Restore Library" tool (I think it should go automatically to the default backup location. (On XP it is C:\Documents And Settings\[your user name]\Application Data\J River\Media Center 12\Library Backups\)

Even if you don't have a backup copy of the library the field values may have been saved to the file tags, but once again, that depends on several factors, like the file format and selected options.

BTW, your MC13 trial didn't "unregister" your MC12 installation, However some other changes may trigger that. For instance, the license must be restored if the computer's name has been changed (in Windows' settings). Legitimate users can always restore their licenses by using the online service.
