Title: Setup 4 speaker system to play 2ch source with simulated surround in 2 rears
Post by: AGAWA on April 24, 2022, 05:37:02 am
I would like to create a zone for 2 ch sources that will play original 2ch sound through 2 front speakers and provide simulated surround through 2 rear speakers. I use 4 speaker setup. I do not want to copy 2 fronts to 2 rears. Checked Effects in DSP Studio, but no manipulation for separate channels is available.

More reading shows: use JRSS and then Room Correction ?

I do not quite understand the following under JRSS customisation:
Move Center to L/R : this option allows stereo to be upmixed to use the surround without extracting a centre channel, ie the LR are the left in the L and R (Output Format in Wiki)

Seems like you should just do JRSS mixing to 4 channels.

thanks, Bob. Like you said, JRSS mixing to rears, and in addition I use Room Correction to set  levels in rears. Perfect.
