Title: Side Letter/Number before track number in the Track column
Post by: jetpacksam on April 22, 2023, 02:48:04 am
How can I do the following:

In the track column i want to list
A1,B2,C3,D4,E5

And so on.
Double Digits are possible but if any punctuation and the column entry blanks out.

Why?
Because i don't want to end up with the following track title:

A3-Set The Controls For The Heart Of The Sun
or similar

Any attempt to restart the track sequence brings in the obvious sorting snafu of sorting by number.

Since you can't change the "Data Type" of the "Track #" field/tag from "Integer" about the only way you can get anywhere near doing it is to make use of the "Disc #" field/tag, which unfortunately is also has an unchangeable Data Type of Integer", making Side A - Disc 1, Side B - Disc 2 etc and sorting on both Disc # and Track #.

I was afraid that would be the case. It would also sort only by disc and not album side.
This is very annoying.  Thank you.

You can create your own custom field for Track Number and format it as text. You then fill it they way you like and hide the internal track number field.
