Give this one a try and some appreciation for Hendrik's work on the font system!

To elaborate a bit, we now support all types of fonts installed on your system, configured through Fontconfig like most other applications.
By default it'll use whatever your default sans-serif font is, usually DejaVu Sans on most distributions.

Should give MC a much better look than the old inflexible bitmap fonts!

This also fixed the "dead pixels" issue - ha, I was right when I encountered my font issue, it was related to fonts! :D

It's beautiful and looks native now! Awesome work Hendrik!

This also removes the dependency for xfonts too, right?

Really nice.  fwiw, the about is still reporting .2 (mcws too).

The about window is reporting .3 here on the AMD64 build. If you're using the apt repository you'll need to update/change it for MC21 - I should post a tutorial on how to do this.

Love the new font system- fixed all the visibility problems I was having on a small netbook screen.
BTW I downloaded the update from the repository and it is still showing 21.0.2 in the Help-about.

I'm running i386 on openSUSE TW (Plasma5).  I'm clearly running 21 and I can clearly see the "new" font system.

The fonts look great, it definitely looks more native in Gnome with Cantarell.  The dead pixels are also gone for me too. I'm seeing 20.0.3 in the about with the 64 bit build FWIW.

The image functionality appears to work, but had some hiccups.  For example, the option to change pictures with the mousewheel doesn't appear to work (no effect from the mousewheel).  Image viewing also exhibits the same issues I see with video playback, which is probably to be expected since both use display view.

To summarize, the current state of the issues:
1) The OSD won't stay on screen for me (it either doesn't appear when I mouse to the top of the screen or it appears for a split second and then vanishes), and
2) The switch to display view doesn't work consistently with dual monitors.  The current behavior (with images or video) is that it seems to "pick" a monitor to display on, ignoring which monitor MC is currently on. For example, If I have MC on the right monitor and double-click a picture it displays on the left monitor, and if I close display view MC is now on the left monitor.  The good news is that this is better than the "split screen" video behavior I was seeing previously, and video is much more usable as a result (even if I can't pick the monitor).  So that's definite progress.

Thanks for integrating images, it's great to be able to access images using Gizmo or JRemote from a linux server now  ;D

I'm running Debian Jessie 8.1 i386, the Synaptic package manager shows MC21 21.0.3 so I think it is definitely a i386 build issue re: showing 21.0.2 rather than a repository issue.

It's just a dependency issue in the build, it really is .3 Will correct it on the next...

Yes, Bob can probably remove that dependency from the .deb packaging as well.
