Hi all,
Today I've been working on a way to make the lyrics display at playback time.
Here's what we've got so far:
To add lyrics, right click on any track and choose Library Tools > Lookup Lyrics.
Our lyrics come from https://www.azlyrics.com/, http://genius.com and Google so consider supporting them if you like what we've done.
To display lyrics, make sure you're showing cover art in Playing Now (and not a visualization), then right click and choose Display Lyrics.
Cheers
-
Diggin it! Makes sense since there is usually a lot of space around the album/cover art.
-
It would be nice to be able to see all the lyrics at once, without having them scroll. Maybe in a separate, moveable and resizable window. Given today's wide displays, it could be outside the main MC window. If it ends up a smaller window, it should scroll automatically as the song plays.
-
Looks good. Are these new methods? Will they be available to Track Info views for user customisation? Related: would be very nice to have scalable windows in Track Info that dynamically adjust their size to use available space while keeping their overall aspect ratio - eg for cover art and other info boxes.
-
BTW I'M still "banned" from their website ie any PCs from my home network's IP address won't connect to azlyrics unless I use a VPN.
All of this due to doing a bulk of about 150 songs or so a few weeks back...I guess they didn't appreciate...
I was looking at their website how do we contribute?

I'm having the same problem. But I did all of three albums, and not at once, it was one after the other. AZ Lyrics doesn't seem like a workable solution.
-
Does JRiver have a contact with AZLyrics?
I contacted through the website about being apparently banned after requesting lyrics for 3 albums, and asked about usage metrics, request delays, etc. I have not heard back and appear to still be banned.

In terms of showing the lyrics, this feature works as you would expect. It's fairly nice. But in some cases the cover art (or artist image) is kinda small compared to the screen real estate available. It looks to me like 1/3 of the horizontal space is allocated to the image and 2/3 to the lyrics.
This results in a whole bunch of the screen being blank while the image sits over on the left looking kind of small. It's not a huge big deal. I'm inclined to suggest a handle so we can adjust lyrics space versus image space. But I'm not sure if that's too fiddly. I'm also inclined to think that maybe keeping the image exactly as is and wrapping the lyrics around it might be better.
Or at a minimum some algorithmic placement which allows the image to be the full height of the display area. Otherwise it looks kinda weird.
I can post screen shots if this is not clear.
Thanks,
Brian.
-
Next build will look at azlyrics and also another site if that fails. Hopefully we'll fare a little better this way.
-
This is ridiculous. I, like others, cannot access their website - after downloading lyrics for just a few albums.
Given how they treat your customers, I would suggest you drop them altogether unless they re-instate people and promise not to do it in the future.
-
The lyrics display is pretty cool.
However, I came across a track with lots of lyrics and the font is pretty dang tiny. I'm not sure what I'd rather see, a scroll bar - certainly not, truncated lyrics, eh probably not - but there's a good deal of white space beneath/ around the lyrics that isn't used which could make this font size 4 a bit larger. I know I can resize the window, but this one made me realize how small it was.
-
The cutting off of lyric lines in the three column display is a little underwhelming compared to some of the other media apps available. Would it be possible to have single column auto scroll? (Ok! It's a lot to ask but one can dream of Utopia!)
This is not to say that what you have done is pretty awesome.
-
There is of course a danger that a wonderfully rich audiophile audio system is gradually transforming into a karaoke app. Just a thought!
-
If you don't like it, you can turn it off with a right click.
-
Just being a pratt JimH. Love JRiver, and always in awe of what you are all doing to improve it. I am listenening to a wonderful playlist with all of the wonders of DSP and who could want more. You are blessed.
-
Here is an example as you can see many lines ae truncated - not what your average music junkie is expecting to see.

I saw the truncation too. While this is not a feature I have been longing for, I thought to myself, if I had been, I would be dissappointed.
I would have expected live scrolling lyrics in the way Soundhound does it on my phone. :)

Do we have to right click etc on every track In an album or playlist
And does it save the lyrics in the tracks file?
Thanks Steve
-
Must be missing something? How do I enable the new Lyrics display?
Have installed the new Ver. 25.014
I can see the lyrics if I change to Info>Noir Viz
and also in the tags.
But I don't see any option to change the view to the examples above?
Carl.
-
Right click on the view to the right in Playing Now.
-
Right click on the view to the right in Playing Now.
Tried that. The options I get are:
Display View
Detach Display
More>
Cover Art
3D Visualizations
Track Info
Visualizations
Enable Scrollbars (Checked)
Display Cover Art when small (Checked)
Don't see anything relating to lyrics specifically even when drilling down into all of those options above.
Also display is currently in "Noir Viz" under Track Info in case that makes a difference.
Carl
-
Click on "Cover Art" to activate it. You'll see the cover.
-
Display View? Theater View?
-
Click on "Cover Art" to activate it. You'll see the cover.
Thanks. That did it. Love the new right click option to lookup lyrics as well. Also this makes it much easier to see if there are already lyrics attached etc...
Carl.

Agreed.
Is there an option to control the display of the lyrics (e.g., enable/disable truncation, set a min or max font size)?
-
LOVE IT! I'm finding my voice! Only question can one change the font size?
-
Many thanks for the Lyrics Display!
I appreciate it! Good job. :)
-Steve
-
Yes, please solve the truncate issue.
-
Thank you very much! The lyrics work in my favorite player, I'm happy!
-
I managed to show them in Display View but not in Standard View/Playing Now. Not sure if this is expected, but the screenshot in Matt's first post looks like Standard View (I'm no Media Center UI expert, far from it...).
I do have the album cover in Playing Now (no visualisation) but there are no 'Display Lyrics' when right-clicking on the cover, only the usual Play, Remove from List, Send To etc.
Right-clicking on the Zone (under Playing Now) also reveals no lyrics option.
-
Would there be any way to have the lyrics download for a whole album when you play it (atm I seem to have to download each track :( manually) . Also it seems I can't get lyrics to display on a track I'm currently playing - but can on ones I'm not (lyrics display when that particular track is playing)

Don't know about the album thing. But if you want to display lyrics for a track currently playing that you have just added the lyrics to you will need to turn the lyrics feature off and then back on again by "Right" clicking on the display area and clicking on the (Checked) "Display Lyrics" option and then repeating that procedure.
Carl.

Agreed.

Looks nice however a lot of them show up truncated...A visualization equivalent that we could modify would be nice!
Thx

Right click on cover art then library tools then lookup lyrics. Adds lyrics for each track , a bit quicker than doing each track individually.
-
Whilst this works fine for me when playing to a MC instance, if I play to a DLNA renderer (Marantz 7012) then as soon as I select "Display Lyrics" MC crashes.
I've included my log file and crash dump.
-
Same thing happened here, streaming to Pi, enable 'display lyrics' causes an immediate crash and the MC 'incomplete shutdown detected' window pops up.
-
Being able to click on "Display" and view both the album art and lyrics in full screen is the most glorious thing ever. Thanks!!
-
Both options were chosen but no lyrics...am I missing something?
I tried to choose a most classical song so I guess it's not the problem of song missing from the database, it's just not working for me...

@JimH and @Matt did you see the implementation I did a couple of weeks ago?

The good news is that my 64bit MC25 loaded perfectly and all copied from my MC24 flawlessly, thank you, that is most important.
Regarding lyrics, I have read all the posts and have tried to load lyrics, from cover art, track title, tools, etc and I see and get all the prompts, even the small pop up window that says, looking up lyrics, but for the life of me I cannot get lyrics to display.
I do this from one of my playing zones called stereo.
Do I need to add something that I am not doing, I am on PC with Windows 10.
-
Start something playing, then click on Playing Now in a local zone. Check "Display Lyrics". You need to be in Cover Art view.
-
The lookup success rate is not high, and not always correct. After you do a lookup, open the tag editor and see if there's anything in the Lyrics tag.
-
THANK YOU.
-
I switched my "Cover Art View" to "Plain" and boom there where the lyrics for one song thought I had it and then next track back to nothing.
I am sure this will be dialed in better, at a later time.
-
Really pleased that this has been added, as I have been thinking about how best to add lyrics for a while now.
I've been trying it out, and mostly it works fine.
One change I would like to see is the behaviour when no lyrics are found. At the moment a track will have 'Lyrics for this song have yet to be released. Please check back once the song has been released.' added to the LYRIC tag of a FLAC file, but I would prefer it was left blank if there were no lyrics found.
Otherwise, a player will just display that message as a lyric!
Also, I couldn't test this as none of my music has lyrics, but if lyrics are already present when a lookup is done, are they overwritten? I would prefer the option to either choose to retain/replace, or at least have an option to state the default behaviour in a setting somewhere
Finally, I am getting a lot of false positives (i.e. wrong lyrics) so I don't think the lookup criteria is working that efficiently at the moment - is anyone else finding this problem as well?
Thanks
Nick

Seems dependent on the skin . I use a Modern Cards variant by Awesome Donkey and get no truncation of lyrics - the lyric display is split up into 5 columns with the text small enough to fully display the lyrics

Yes, I can confirm this on some albums. Others are still truncated.

First, let me say seeing lyrics display in the playing now area is fantastic and I thank the tech guys who have finally added this feature. There are some problems though. A-Z Lyrics seems to not like it when multiple albums worth of lyrics are sought. Also, More than once now they either come up with totally wrong lyrics for a song look up or they don't have them at all. They are not a very good service at all so I hope other options are given so that the user can choose where to get lyrics from.
For now I will use a third party app to get my lyrics for songs that the current built in service misses and insert them in the tag field where lyrics go. They still display on the playing now area dedicated for them.
Thanks much though for adding this feature. I know with future updates, the bugs will be worked out. You guys rock. I upgraded this time around to a master license so I can use it on my Linux box, and I am an early adopter of the Android app. I love JRiver and I wholly support you guys. Keep up the good work!!
-
for anyone wanting to do batch lyrics I found that Lyrics Finder by Media Human works very well. It will auto-write the lyrics to the tag file for batches of mp3 or flac files. Those lyrics will display beautifully with the new display lyrics feature on MC 25. I have done a few hundred files at a time with great success. The ones it cannot find I search on Google myself and manually add them. Makes going through a Terabyte of music go pretty quick. Finds lyrics for even my obscure alternative music and old time country tunes.
It might be worth it to use this third party app until the built in function JRiver MC 25 has the bugs worked out. As far as I can tell there are no back end installs of third party software when installing the app and from my scans with bitdefender, it appears to be malware free. I have been using the app for about a year now with JRiver on Windows 10. The app is not compatible with Linux. In the time it took to type this, I added lyrics to 500 songs. Not shabby at all. Oh, and it is freeware also...so no cost to anyone wanting to check it out.
-
Frankly, I can't really tune into the general enthusiasm. The current implementation is IMHO more than basic and "boring" (sorry) compared to other lyrics apps. Lines are truncated, font can not be styled, no auto scrolling,...
The current state is not very spectacular so far, I'd say. But I guess there will be further improvements in the upcoming versions
Cheers,
Stefan

Nice. See that button there... "Copy Link Information To Clipboard"?
Hit that...
Then paste into your post. Then, anyone who is interested can copy from your post, then hit the "Paste Link Information From Clipboard" button to have everything filled in with one click. It's very slick indeed.

I downloaded the new MC25 for Mac and saw the thread on lyrics in Play now. I gave it a try and I see the menu options in both the song list and playing now right click but I can't get either to work unless it takes some time for the lyrics look up or I need to set up a link someplace.

Yes, I just converted one of my APE albums to WAV and was able to get lyrics for all the WAV files after.
-
I notice the lyrics are not uniformly set.The font size changes from song to song, leading to sentence lines being truncated. Is there anyway in the next update that we could have a little control over their display? Changing the font settings now has no impact on how lyrics are displayed, only settings in the main window and the tree are affected.
I am using an Asus ROGG751JY laptop (It's a behemoth) and the max display is 1080p which is where I have it set at. Also I have display config set to be hardware accelerated.

Dear Matt,
I'm found where is my problem is in the field ''Artist'', I had written of all the performers of the album, in this field it is necessary to write only the name of the group / artist.
Thanks.

Taken from the 25.0.16 change log:
12. Fixed: Selecting to draw lyrics to a DLNA zone would crash. Now the option doesn't even appear.
So it is not currently possible to use this feature when streaming to a network DAC.

Probably. Just try it.

anyone to confirm it doesn't?

Radio Paradise does not provide lyrics.
-
So this is what I get with a number of songs no matter the resolution I have set or the skin I use. Not all song lyrics get displayed like this but with no control over the font, Lyrics seem to either be too small or too large. I tried changing the font size but it does nothing for how the lyrics are arranged. I have edited them in the tag window to try to get them to fit better. I can sometimes get rid of the truncated lines, but the arrangement is not able to be touched...
I will insert pics what the lyrics look like in the tag area, and then how they are shown in the display window...I am using the font Calbri at 11point. Also, I had to put the lyrics in Word to edit size originally as they were displayed way too big. That helped with the lines being truncated, but the arrangement is still askew.
-
Your screenshot looks pretty good to me. What's the problem? Thanks.

It's there in MC25.0.19 and it works. What build are you running?

Matt -
The problem is it took me 20 minutes of editing the lyrics to get them to fit like that, and it still displays the lyrics wrong. One line (could you hear me calling) is all by itself when it should be like it is in in the editor, with the next stanza because it is the line right before "do you hear me cry". I tried moving the line, no good. I tried moving the whole stanza. No good. I cut and copied the whole lyric into word, adjusted the font size and spacing, and pasted it back into the editor. and all I could get was that display you saw.
Anyway, even if that is good, its not really. As an end-user of this product, the lyrics should display correctly on their own, or there should be a way to adjust the font for the lyric display alone. I can make that font smaller by adjusting the font adjustment provided now but that affect the font display for the whole app. Right now, but I have to make the font so small that I cannot see what the words are for the songs in my libraries. Anything less than an 8 pt font to me is too small and not a workable solution.
I have screen shots of songs I just looked up lyrics for. You will see the varying sizes of the fonts. System font is set to Calbri at 11 pt. I have done no editing to make the lyrics display. This is what stock lyric look up does and how it is displayed.
Hopefully this helps to show that the lyric display is not uniform at all, and displays in whatever font size it wants to.
-
Hello.
Right now when you look up for lyrics and is saved on tag it has a trim leading. It is possible to remove that trim from look up? And i saw that it has some problem with some special symbol (^*&"'#`) instead adding them, it adds ? ? ? ?

+1 on this. Have used it for thousands of tracks.

I tried rp on .19 and even though Display Lyrics is checked, there were no lyrics displayed for the 10 tracks I tried. As Matt says, it appears there are no lyrics provided by rp. MC could try to look the tracks up and display the lyrics, but as of now I do not believe any lyrics are displayed for rp.

Sometimes. The song name can't have anything extra. For example, "The Return Of The Giant Hogweed (New Stereo Mix)" fails. And I haven't found matches for anything by Yellow Magic Orchestra. But in general it works pretty well. If you're not seeing lyrics, check the tag and make sure the lookup worked. Add some lyrics of your own using the tag editor, just to test. Sorry if these tips have been mentioned before.

It would be nice if lookup was automatic. Having to click on each track is a bit of a nuisance.

The issue here is streaming services like Radio Paradise (aka rp). It shows one new track at a time and you have to sit there and click on each new track as it appears.

Maybe besides getting the lyrics to display consistently more symmetrically, a choice in lyric look up providers could be worked in. I think I saw that A -Z lyrics is what is used as the provider now and they are horrible. I constantly get wrong lyrics uploaded for songs I am updating and that is not Jrivers fault at all, but the provider of the service is to blame.
I know Google has a lyrics search engine, and I use an app called Genius on my phone that is almost 100 percent accurate. They have a Windows app also, so I assume they have a database they run also. Anyone but A-Z would be fantastic to use.
Hopefully a future build will allow for more choices in font and provider. I love the lyrics feature and only hope it improves.

Azlyrics is not the only source used. If not found on Azlyrics, the search goes to 2 other sources, not sure what they are. But, if Azlyrics finds something, then that is what you get. Other programs often show you the sources and let you check which to use - based on your experience. That would be a nice option here.
Incidentally, you may not be actually getting results from azlyrics. Earlier they were blocking access for people who used them too often, which was often just a few albums. Not sure if that is still the case but it may be.

Thanks. I didn't know other providers were added. Still, for a Megadeth tune, I got a very long rap lyric for it, For a George Jones tune, I got a Kenny Logins lyric. I did the whole album Screaming for Vengeance by Judas Priest, and got Lyrics from a NAZ album.
So it is still buggy. Glad though that other providers were added.

Google lookup will be in the next build.
-
That's great but if it is the 4th in line then the wrong lyrics problem will be the same. How about a user choice for which source to use?

Sorry vavan it works for me
(http://)
-
I don't know if this makes sense for others, but I'd like to simply load lyrics on demand in the Playing Now window and not have to store them - or preload to have this feature. I really don't care if I have to load the lyrics again (if I want to) in the future (which might be months and months away shuffling through thousands of songs).

did you see my screenshot above and read explanation?

I don't have those last 2 menu items for Radio Paradise either. Build 25.0.18 for Windows.

Can you scroll down?
-
No. For everything else it works except Radio Paradise.

thank you, at least someone was able to confirm the problem I keep complaining
-

scroll what? Not sure what you mean
-
did you see my screenshot above and read explanation?
Yes, but my question is can you confirm if the track that's in CloudPlay actually has lyrics in the tags? For example, this one does so that's why the Display Lyrics is there.
-
The lyrics are loaded and can be seen in the tags. But there is no way to display the view screen, as there is no corresponding menu item only for radio Paradise. Everything works well in CloudPlay.
-

I always see the Display Lyrics menu item regardless as to whether the track has lyrics or not.
Obviously if there are no lyrics present they will not be displayed but I still see the menu item.
Also we are talking about Radio Paradise not CloudPlay.
To see them in RP you first need to download them for the playing song then enable the Display Lyrics menu, but some guys are not seeing this menu item.

right, and that's exactly what might be seen in the screenshot I've attached

what he said
-
25.0.24 brought "Artist images" and "Dislpay lyrics" items to popup context menu when playing RP but the problem is Lookup lyrics broken now
-
I read the whole thread but didn't see anybody saying if it is possible or not to get/show lyrics in Theater view. Is it?
Thanks.

for anyone wanting to do batch lyrics I found that Lyrics Finder by Media Human works very well.
I've also used Lyrics Finder from time to time, and agree that it works well (especially considering it's free!) While it's pretty good for 'mainstream' tracks, I often find it a mixed bag for more obscure stuff. Hard to tell exactly what sources it uses; Media Human's website names only genius.com and "others".
With all due respect to JRiver, I still use MediaMonkey (MM) for managing and tagging my collection because a) I've used it forever so know most of the tricks; and b) with a few add-ons, it's by far the most flexible tool I've ever found for those tasks, especially with large collections... and I've tried most of them. MM has a free add-on called 'Lyricator' that I believe covers more sources than Lyrics Finder, and offers a pile of options such as how the Artist and Title will be munged (reformatted) for best search results. You can also select any or all of ten search sources: AZLyrics.com, Lyric.Wikia.com, letras.mus.br, lyricsmode.com, seekalyric.com, metrolyrics.com, elyrics.net, songcoleta.com, genius.com, and musixmatch.com. (I doubt LyricWikia works anymore, however, because they were forced to remove API access several years ago due to hassles with the record labels. A shame, because I can often find missing lyrics at LyricWikia.)
Just as a quick comparison, I tried adding lyrics to a 4-disc box set from Lindisfarne, a somewhat obscure UK folk-rock band that was huge (especially in England) in the early '70s. They put out about a dozen albums, but had largely faded away by the early '80s. Lyrics Finder discovered lyrics for 37 tracks - about half of the 71 track total. Likely due to a broader set of search sites, MM's Lyricator did better, tagging 57 of the 71 tracks. 14 tracks weren't tagged by either tool. However, I do find that Lyrics Finder sometimes formats its results a little better than does Lyricator.

Since the upgrade from 18 to 24 I cannot get Lyrics anymore.
I get always something else instead of the Lyrics - see picture.
Any ideas what this could be.
Thanks in advance

that's similar to what I reported above, only in different language

It may only work with Google in the U.S. We'll check.

An option that allowed the user to specify which sources to use would be very useful in cases like this.

I have two wishes:
The first can be done so that the lines words do not overlap another?
The second can be made possible to display the song lyrics in the Gizmo application?
Best regards,
Roma.

Just want like to say that I´happy with the display of lyrics.
Thanks to the MC team

I have been trying to get the lyrics display to work but cannot get rid of the truncated lines. For short lines, the display works fine (screen shot 1) but if there are long lines they are truncated (screen shot 2). And, expanding the display by removing the left windows does not help the truncated lines (screen shot 3). The display just gets bigger.
So I thought I would play with font types and sizes in the lyrics tag. Unfortunately, the popup edit tag does not seem to have any font options and does not even seem to have any way to save any changes, unless I am missing something - see the 4th screen shot. Of course, actually manually editing all the lyrics is not a viable project, but I wanted to see if it had any effect.
Also, their seems to be no way to change the actual display font for the lyrics.
Any help in getting this lyric display to work properly would be appreciated.
Additional screens shots in next post due to file size limit.

How did you get the lyrics to go vertical? For me they always spread to multiple columns, even if there is more vertical space in the windows. And the truncation persists. With more space, the same display just expands.
-
Dear dtc -this comes from different "Track Info" - I have some of them and was testing all how they display the lyrics.
I attached therefore two different pic from different track info's.
Under programs/J River/Media Center 25/Visualizations/Track Info you can find css files where fonts sizes and some other parameter´s can be changed.

Please don't speak for JRiver. Gizmo is important.

The last version of Gizmo was Dec. 2015. It is certainly not under active development.

But new features are not being added. It is a very good app and has been from the day it first appeared, but there are features that people have requested over time that have not been added.
Any chance lyrics viewing will be added?

Now, any help on truncated lyrics? Do we just live with that? I tried to find a solution but have not. Any help would be appreciated.
-
Lyrics displayed is great. However, the upload site should at also give the ability to upload translations. In this european perspective dealing with many languages, it is a 'should have' feature. I want to upload Greek songtexts of famous Greek composers like Hadzidakis, Theodorakis and Xarhakos and their Dutch and French translations, but there is no way to do it.

I have the truncated lyrics problems as well. I have tried different view settings.

Coming next build we'll try this:
Changed: The lyrics display will break long lines into multiple lines instead of letting the text truncate.
-
I tried the lyrics change to wrap rather than truncate lines. It is much better. I would suggest that the wrapped line be indented several spaces so it is clear that it is a wrapped line. Not sure without being able to see it, but I think that would improve the readability.
On several tracks (see attached files) there seems to be wrapped lines even though there is a lot of white space between the columns. The large white spaces lead to more wrapping. Not sure what all the parameters are, but less white space on tracks like these might be good. Of course, on some their is little to no whitespace. The algorithm may need so tweaking.
It also seems that hiding the left window has no effect on the wrapping. There is a lot more space for lyrics, but it does not get used. They fonts just get bigger. It would be nice to somehow have a separate window that shows all the lyrics and can be sized by the user.
Thanks for working on this.
-
Truncated lines are better for me as well.
-
Hi All, It would be better if the lookup engine ignored anything in brackets () {} [] when getting the lyrics.
See attached screenshot of the missing lyrics that would be obtained if the above was implemented.

Dear Matt & JimH,
Now I can say that the lyrics are displayed normally in window ''play now''.
Thanks.
I want to know if there is an opportunity to make the display text lyrics in the Gizmo program?
Thanks.

I am seeing blank lines in the display when there are none in the lyrics. The attached screen shot shows the lyrics have just one blank line, but several blank lines show in the display. The lyrics were just downloaded, so presumably came from Google. I do not see blank spaces at the end of the lines in the popup editor, but maybe removing spaces from the end of lines might help.

Would you email me the text from the lyrics field? I'm matt at jriver.

We've got a fix going in the next build. I think there were empty characters (spaces) after lines that would sometimes split to a new line.
Thanks a lot for the help.

How does foobar manage to integrate lyrics so seamlessly with a plugin (Lyric-show-panel 3 - foo_uie_lyrics3) that's 3 years old?
It very, very rarely fails to find lyrics.
I've just fired up FB2K for the first time in months. I know the album in the screenshot has never been played through it, but it instantly found all the lyrics - no input from me - and presents them in a nice scrolling window, in synch if the lyrics are timestamped. It even has a nice editor to timestamp the lyrics if it can't find them already done.
IIRC To display lyrics it first checks the tags, then the lyric folder where it saves downloaded lyrics as text files. If that fails it then goes off and finds them *somewhere* in the net.
(Just looked at some of the places it searches for lyrics and they include lyrics.wikia, azlyrics, genius.com, songtexte.com, lyrics.fandom, letssingit.com and several others)

I like having lyrics - no I don't sing along :) - A simple window that I could add to my views would just be a nice bit of polish to MC that I use exclusively as a music player
-
If there's a line in the lyrics tag that is a little bit too long, it'll show "..." at the end of the line, so the full line is not displayed.
-
Recent versions improve on that.

Paste this lyrics in any song in your library so you can see it. A lot of lyrics do display fine for me, but occasionally I see lyrics like these which are not fully displayed.

Thanks for adding this functionality.
1. Is it intended anytime soon to show them scrolling at a consistent user selectable size? Currently it is a bit of underwhelming experience with automatically changing font sizes -sometimes I can't even read the lyrics.
2. Will Panel and JRemote support lyrics (and the first point above)?
Is there a guide available on how to customize the cover art view (e.g. to show tags)?
Should the lyrics also show up in Theater View? I played some music yesterday in Theater View but none of the songs showed lyrics (with the latest MC). EDIT: OK, they show up, just not always reliably when a new track starts playing that gets them fetched.

When looking up french songs a lot of empty space is added which needs to be deleted manually. Any way to fix this in the lookup would be appreciated thx.

JRiver's lyrics for "A Horse with No Name (Live)" track 50 on America's new 50th Anniversary album is displaying the wrong lyrics. Part of the fake lyrics: "Planned Parenthood helping plan miscarriages."
Obviously this is not correct. None of the correct lyrics are displayed for this song. I don't think the band will appreciate this. I sure don't. :-[

Is there a way to make "Artist Images...." setting sticky?
Both lyrics and artist images are a nice new edition for display view, great work!

When will the lyrics function available for linux / raspberry?
Lyrics should work in Linux. Did you try?
-
Linux/Raspberry:
Although it is possible to choose lyrics in the drop down menu with right click on the cover in the playing now section, it won't show up.
There is no menu item "Lookup lyrics automatically..." like in the windows-edition -> options/general/online metadata/
-
Are there any new findings, why lyrics won't show up in the linux / raspberry edition of mc25?
-
Maybe you could still consider layout of the elements also. As an example attached full screen images from current playing now and track info plugin by nnth with cover art and lyrics displayed
-
Just reporting a quirk when displaying lyrics in case is useful to others. Apologies if already reported.
To see the right click > Dispaly Lyrics in Playing Now you must have the "cover art" ticked (not the same as "cover view" when right click > more > views)(see attached).
You get the 'default' presentation with cover art on left and lyrics to right. This can be modified by right click > Track Info > (style selection) BUT this automatically UN-selects "cover art" AND "Display lyrics" option disappears from the context menu. You need to manually re-select "cover art" to get back to the original view and this enables "Display Lyrics" again.

Or can we hard code a lookup that will get rid of the following text and empty lines as it will never translate the song anyway...:Something went wrong. Lyrics weren't translated.
Try again
Translate to English

Will there be some way to adjust the size of the Lyrics text?
It is unreadable on my TV screen and on my little better on my laptop.

Thanks for this new feature.
Just one question: how can I prevent the lyrics being (auto-)saved into file tags? Could they be saved into a specified folder instead?

Not possible at this time. They are very small.

Hello,
I have the same problem on my desktop machine.
The place next to the album cover is more than enough, but the lyrics are this small, that I cannot read them.
See attached screenshot.
Scaling text for the application does not affect the lyrics.
Is there a way to change it or does this need some development?
Still valid for version 26.0.22 x64 Windows.
Thank you.

I know working with formatting codes probably isn't the most exciting work, but the lyrics display could really use another pass. I like having the lyrics, but it completely mucks up the display. Could we get some more intelligent formatting that better uses the available space? Maybe an option to post lyrics beneath the cover instead of to the right?
-
For the classical music listeners...what about program notes? Sometimes for Chandos they get in by themselves (can't figure out how I can make it happen), and appear as a paperclip on the remote JRiver. And then sometimes they show up in "comments." Using the "import lyrics" does not seem to work consistently (or at all). Is there something I am missing? Many thanks.
-
This is an awesome feature! Thank you for adding it.
What would really be nice is if there was a way to update the lyric field in the ID3 tag through JRiver....
Thank you for all your awesome work on JRiver!
-
Lyrics are downloaded if available. Just turn on the feature.
-
Since yesterday lyrics import does not work anymore. found out, that some lyrics-provider block my ip by now. so this function won't be available anymore. built 25.0.114
Any ideas?

I can't find how to scroll through the lyrics if display is set to every x lines which creates pages of lyrics.
Or is it possible to auto scroll somehow?
-
Lyrics not working anymore, MC27. Just get a bunch of sentences from different lyric databases.
-
I can't find how to scroll through the lyrics if display is set to every x lines which creates pages of lyrics.
Or is it possible to auto scroll somehow?
I couldn't figure this out, either. When I change it to show pages, I see a "1 of 2" or "1 of 4" at the end of the displayed lyrics. But I can't figure out how to show the other pages.
-
It should scroll as the song plays.
-
I have now a somehow funny behavior - when MC looks for lyrics I get more and more this phrase downloaded -"Learn more" - instead of the song text's.
Does somebody know why?
