Title: Android box
Post by: maid on December 27, 2021, 05:30:05 pm
I have a New Android 10.0 Smart TV Box 2GB + 16GB Quad Core HD 4K HDMI WIFI Media Player

I am having huge problems trying to get jriver to work and had to resort to using the inbuilt player with is not good to navigate.

Can some one help me set this up please?

I have all my data on a 1tb hard drive that I plug into this box..

TIA

I don't know if I can be much help. What is the make and model of the box? Some of the Android TV boxes don't run full versions of Android, so they might not work. We only build and test on the Nvidia Shield and Hisense TVs.

That's one of those misleading "Android TV" boxes that you can find on Amazon, eBay, etc. that actually runs stock Android with a TV-like launcher, and not the Android TV OS that devices like the Nvidia Shield TV runs. They're typically pretty weak in specs compared to actual Android TV devices. You're probably not going to have a good experience trying to use JRiver on it.

I (unfortunately) own a couple of these devices and they leave a lot to be desired for and they have a lot of issues and annoyances.

You may be able to install Armbian and run MC Linux (arm64) on it. No idea what the performance would be like or the state of hardware video acceleration. You can find some information here: https://forum.armbian.com/topic/17597-csc-armbian-for-rk3318rk3328-tv-box-boards/
