Title: Using [Album Artist] in grouping label instead of "Various Artists"
Post by: BryanC on March 22, 2022, 10:06:03 am
The grouping labels for albums with multiple artists are currently shown as "Various Artists" even when the [Album Artist] field is set. Could this be changed so that it displays the [Album Artist] (or even [Album Artist (auto)]) instead?

Good suggestion.

Coming next build:
Changed: If you pick Group By > Album again for a list, it will use new logic that uses the album artist (auto) when possible.

You'll need to regroup the list since it has the grouping saved and it won't know about the new expression I'm adding until you save it again.

Thanks!

Definitely second that - I use ALBUM ARTIST to track which artist an album came out under and the artist tag to detail collaborations

The current way of listing the album as 'Various Artists' because one track in the album has a 'featuring artist' against it in the artist tag  is down right stupid - If you have an actual compilation album surely you can just put 'Various Artists' under  the Album Artist tag - and the actual artist under the artist tag
