From 24.0.04
Quote
FiiO X5III running Android 5.1.1. JRiver crashes on when starting.
24.0.5 is running fine on this device.

I previously asked about volume when playing to DLNA device.
The solution:
Quote
Try turning the phone sideways (landscape mode).  There is a volume slider there.
This works with tablets and phones but FiiO X5III doesn't have landscape mode. There's likely a lot of devices that don't.
There's probably an app to force rotation but regardless it something to consider for Panel's interface.

We'll fix the volume slider problem.  For now, can you use the pull-down volume of the phone?  On mine, there is an arrow that lets me choose ringer, media, etc.

Well, it likely won't work on an Android TV anyways until they explicitly add support for it.

what is stopping "JRiver Dev Team" from explicitly add support for Android TV ?

All in due time. JRiver for Android is still in a very early stage, and a lot of work still has to be done.

Isn't JRiver for Android audio-only right now? If so, it makes little sense to be installing it on an Android TV box right now anyways considering the majority of use for Android TV boxes is video content.

It's the very early days right now. It's a major accomplishment in itself that JRiver is even running on Android. Everything else will take time, so I'd recommend having some patience.

Yes and  ...   No => Today I do not switch on my TV for listening to music via JRiver (or Spotify) on a Windows PC connected to my DAC.
and  JRemote as Media Controler is just great.

JRiver on android will allow me to definitively get rid of my fanless Windows PC, and its multiple unexpected updates
Anyway I will keep my other PC running as server for JRiver on Windows.

Yes => I hope to be able to manage my videos on one machine:  (Nvidia Shield)  through one application = JRiver

Anyway the pace is given by the dev team  ... forgive my impatience

OK. I downloaded and installed JRiver for Android.  Can't seem to figure out where to go from here.  The only setting seems to be regarding network.  Neither network info.... or network scan returns anything for me.  I'm on Android 8.1.

Don't see anywhere to import tracks either. My desire is to play music (stored on my phone) with JRiver Android.  I'd like to test this but I guess I'm asking for instructions on step one.

When JRiver for Android is started, it should open the default web browser to Panel (if it doesn't and JRiver for Android opens to a MC icon, just press the MC icon to launch Panel in the web browser). From there, you can control JRiver from Android (using Panel). However, right now all music files needs to be in the default music folder on the internal storage - it doesn't load music files from SD cards yet nor can you change the music location yet (this will likely be able to be changed in the future) and finally I believe it only currently supports a handful of music files (I believe only MP3 and FLAC right now). Jim/Matt/Bob/Brad, please correct me if I'm wrong.

Got it. Thanks.  OK I moved about 1,000 tracks to the default music folder.  JRiver Android now sees those tracks.  I also included a few MPL playlists that do not appear to be recognized.  Maybe I should try M3U instead?  I've played a few tracks and changed zones successfully.  The app does crash though (stops) every time I drag the "A to Z" scroll bar in either Artist or Album view.  I'm running 8.1 on a Sony Xperia X Compact phone.

Playlists won't work right now.  That and stability are at the top of our list.

I got a new phone and noticed an issue when opening JRiver.  First, I noticed it says version 24.0.6 in the App Info.  Secondly, when it opens, it appears to attempt to open Panel inside of the JRiver app, but I get an error that reads "Webpage not available - net::ERR_CLEARTEXT_NOT_PERMITTED"

On my other phone, it also updated to .6, but does open.  I've granted all of the permissions that the app asks for (which is just reading media I think).

Thanks!

24.0.5 did open. I could key in my ip.
At least it will attempt to show my library
But 24.0.6 does nothing.

24.0.7 is now live on the Play Store (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.jriver.mediacenter).  Brad will post details later this morning.

The most important change is that JRiver can play the audio itself, thanks to JohnT's work.  Formerly, the playback was handed off to the browser.  This should solve some problems.

To use the JRiver engine for audio playback, select Player as the destination in settings.

JRiver will can play to the browser if you select Here in settings.  This will probably be removed in a future build.
