Title: crash overnight when doing nothing
Post by: mimizone on September 30, 2021, 12:04:45 pm
MC crashed by itself doing nothing overnight.

Currently I use 28.0.64 on an M1 Mac mini but it happened on different build versions on this machine before.

In case it's helpful, attached is the crash report.

Are you running Media Server mode?
I assumed the machine slept?

Yes Media server mode is enabled and sleep is not disabled.

MC crashing when the Mac goes to sleep is the expected normal behavior?
I don't remember having the issue on my previous Macs / version of MC.

Is that related to Monterey or the M1?

Try reinstalling MC.

It's possible there is an issue with a combination of these factors:
M1
Monterey
Media Server Mode
MC left in playback pause state.

Was the MC UI showing when the crash occurred?
Are you running the distribution version of Monterey (as opposed to a beta build)?

Try taking MC out of Media Server Mode and see if the crash goes away.

I'll try all that and note what happens next time to answer your points. It's not consistent.

I believe the UI is not showing after a crash, just the popup form Macos to report the crash.

I am running the non-beta of Monterey now, but could switch to beta if needed since I have access to that.

This is the same configuration as me perhaps related to the won't play following sleep issue.  I always leave it in pause overnight and run the server.

It's interesting that you leave in pause mode and see this issue since we added a stop after pause audio option to MC a couple of builds ago. You might try toggling that both ways and trying it out.

You added the stop on pause feature I requested a long time ago?  Didn't see that in the release notes, great to hear how do I turn it on?

Go to options, type
pause
in the search box.
