Title: How to rate songs with keyboard?
Post by: Fred1 on March 09, 2023, 05:55:51 am
Hi,

i'd like to rate my songs (set the stars) by using the keyboard instead of clicking with the mouse. I couldn't find a way to do this in the Mac version of MediaCenter.

I'm on a M1 MacBook Pro Max 16", if this matters.

Thanks for your help!
Fred

Try using the arrow keys (OSD) in Theater View's Playing Now.  Down arrow to get to rating, left and right to rate the track.

On Windows there is a shortcut to rate currently playing file with ctrl-shift-1 to 5. Not sure if there is Mac equivalent though

Thanks for your answers.

I forgot to say that i'm an audio-only user, so Theater View is not the way to go for me.

On the Mac, modifier keys (Shift, Ctrl, Option, Cmd) plus the number keys don't seem to work.

Theater View is great for audio.  Give it a try.

No, sorry, that's not the way for me to go.

I have a long list with songs (about 10,000) and would like to rate the songs with a little help from my Countour Design Shuttle Pro, where i would map some keys to the respecting ratings. Other keys are used for skipping forward, backward etc. The scroll-wheel moves fast within the songs.

In the old days, i remember (i'm a very dated user of Media Center), there was a file where you could map the keys to your liking. But i can't find that file any more and can't remember its name, too.

Take a look at the DevZone (link at the bottom).
