There was a similar problem reported for an old version here:
https://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php/topic,138872.0.html

That may mean that the problem is related to Windows.

Play a song with MC32, turned the monitor gets into sleep mode, then after the monitor awakens from sleep mode, the sound playback speeds up to about 1.5 times the normal speed. In this situation if I play another song by double-clicking on it, the speed doesn’t return to normal. I have to click the stop button once and then play again.
Is there anyone else who has the same problem as I do? I updated or downgraded the sound driver, but it didn't help.
I don't set DSP studio > Tempo & Pitch.

MC32 ver 32.0.42
Sound driver: Realtek(R) Audio (built-in on mobo)

Download Universal Silicon/Intel 64 bit build
https://files.jriver-cdn.com/mediacenter/channels/v32/latest/MediaCenter320045-Universal.dmg
(minimum requirement MacOS 10.13)

32.0.45 (5/14/2024)

1. NEW: Reverse GeoCoding - populating location data (country, state, city and sublocation) using GPS coordinates of images.
2. Changed: Slovak translation updated (thanks Peter Lukáč).
3. Changed: Updated libplacebo in JRVR to the latest version.
4. Changed: Added an error message pop-up when there is server error in Reverse GeoCoding.
5. Fixed: When searching on playlists accents were not handled properly.
6. Fixed: State/Province data might not be loaded properly when doing Reverse GeoCoding, for some locations.
7. Changed: During Reverse GeoCoding, if the GPS coordinates match (or are close enough) to an already processed image, we use the known data, instead of hitting the server again.
8. Changed: "Places" field will contain "Sublocation", in addition to "Country", "State/Province", and "City", when either doing Reverse GeoCoding, or loading from image tags.
9. Changed: Updated the Catalan language (thanks Josep).
10. Fixed: Changing users could incorrectly issue stops to the server zones.

32.0.44 (5/2/2024)

1. Changed: Simplified Slow Motion OSD menu text.
2. NEW: The "Slow Motion Playback" right-click/context menu is enabled for videos played in (non-DirectShow) JRiver Video Engine.
3. Fixed: For videos played in (non-DirectShow) "JRiver Video Engine", slow-motion playback would not work when transitioning from normal rate to slow rate, if VideoClock setting was on.
4. NEW: Add custom file info templates file selection in Theater View Options. Can select any file placed in {Library Directory}\Templates.  Pre-MC32 templates file is automatically copied there for selection.
5. Fixed: VideoClock setting might not be turned back on after it was temporarily turned off due to slow-motion playback, if the user stopped playback while it was in slow-motion.
6. Fixed: Improved rendering of Unicode characters outside of the Basic Multilingual Plane.
7. Fixed: Playing video in slow-motion with mute might not work especially if VideoClock setting was initially on.
8. Fixed: Playing a new video while a video is in muted slow-motion playback might leave the new video muted too.
9. Changed: Video Slow-motion context menu will include muted slow-motion items.
10. Fixed: The Slow-motion OSD might be out of sync with the actual playback speed if the speed was set via context menu.
11. Fixed: Subtitles with JRVR will be stretched properly when using anamorphic rendering.
12. Fixed: Theater View file info templates were not handling , as a decimal separator for FPS. (v2.9 of templates file)
13. Fixed: If the VideoClock setting is on, changing from normal playback speed to slow motion speeds might not work initially.
14. Fixed: If playback of a video is stopped or a new file is started while doing slow-motion playback, playback of the next file would be marked as slow-motion, even though the actual playback speed is normal.
15. Changed: Added a note on the direction of the subtitle shift to the video settings dialog.
16. Changed: MCC commands to set the global JRVR profile can be called outside of playback (Output profiles will always refer to the primary display in this case).
17. Fixed: Maximizing some windows like Options could be a problem in the last builds on some displays.
18. Changed: Some MCWS calls default to false for switching into no UI mode (File/GetInfo, Files/Search, Files/GetInfo, etc.).
19. Fixed: Slow motion OSD menu was accidentally enabled for non-video playback types (image, audio, etc.).
20. Fixed: Slow motion via OSD did not try to avoid conflict with VideoClock setting.
21. NEW: Add FPS icons to Theater View file info templates.  Video definition now uses ranges instead of exact heights. (v2.8 of templates file)
22. Changed: Changed how slow-motion playback is invoked, so the DSP Studio window will not pop up.
23. Fixed: Monitors could maximize too large since the change to not show them in the Alt+Tab list.
24. Changed: Updated Greek translation (thanks Panagiotis).
25. NEW: OSD menu for Slow Motion Playback.

32.0.38 (4/18/2024)

1. Fixed: Manual shifting the video image could result in subtitles being drawn off-screen.
2. NEW: Added an option to control subtitle position globally (as a percentage shift from the default position).
3. NEW: Added an option to limit subtitles to the active video rect, instead of using the black bars (if possible).
4. NEW: Added list view display option to Panel.
5. Fixed: Buttons in Playing Now bar in Panel would sometimes overlap when resizing.

10. Fixed: An issue with 24 hour time showing properly when being used. Needs testing.

32.0.36 (4/12/2024)

1. NEW: The top image in a fanned stack of thumbnails is stored so if you stop on an image, it will be used (added a stack_tops.jmd file to the database).

Windows EDID strikes again.

Basically when Windows detects that one of the connected "monitors" shuts off, or the input on the AVR/TV changes etc, playback stops or Windows "moves/resizes" apps/video, and even desktop icons.

The fix is to trick Windows into thinking that the monitor stays connected. I've heard that Windows 11 supposedly has this option, but I run Win 10. Some GPU's have EDID override to get around this, like nvidia Quadro or some newer Intel NUC's. But if your GPU/driver does not, the BEST way to trick Windows is an external hdmi hardware EDID device.

I tried many - several active hdmi switches, "monitor detect killer" (pin 19), 4k HD Fury, but the only one that provides ZERO problems ended up being: https://atlona.com/product/at-etu-sync/ (can be found on eBay for less than $50)

That Atlona Etude Sync adapter is currently only available on eBay UK as an import from the USA, which more than doubles the price when you take shipping into account. It would cost me £88 GBP, without any guarantee or technical support.

However, your very useful advice persuaded me to buy a Lindy HDMI 2.0 EDID Emulator (https://www.lindy.co.uk/audio-video-c2/hdmi-2-0-edid-emulator-p11244), with a 2 year guarantee and lifetime support. Lindy's tech support in the UK have assured me it would do the job. If it doesn't, I will return it. I was told that this adapter doesn't support Dolby Atmos, but I don't think that has any relevance to my needs, as I only have a 5.0 speaker system.

I am trying out Beyond Compare. It looks powerful, but I will have to get to know it better.
I suggest trying BC 5 (beta).  BC 4 (release) also provides a Hex Compare but not a FLAC Media Compare.  There is definitely a learning curve.  It's worth studying the color codes (summarized in the View menu).

BC5 Folder Compare --> File Compare:

1) Put the two files you want to compare into different folders, being sure both have exactly the same filename.
2) Open a new Folder Compare Session either from the Home window or menu Session > New Session > Folder Compare.  Enter the two folders.
3) You will see the two files on the same line.  Hit the "Diffs" toolbar button to see just files which are different.
4) On the line with the files of interest, double click in the empty column centered between the left and right folder displays.  The empty column entry changes to "not equals" sign and BC opens a new tab based on a binary compare of just the two files.
5) BC 5 detects the media type, and the new tab defaults to a Media Compare view showing a nice side-by-side list of Metadata for the two files, followed by Audio Data.  No line numbers.
6) To get hex detail and see every line, including leading Byte Addresses, switch to:  Session > Compare Files Using > Hex Compare.  Be sure View > Byte Addresses is selected.
7) You can switch between viewing "All" and just "Diffs" in the binary file compare using toolbar buttons, same as for folder compare.

BC 4 works the same way, except the binary file compare defaults to Hex Compare.

Hex File Compare in two steps:

From BC's Home screen, click right chevron and select "Hex Compare", or use the menu Session > New Session > Hex Compare.
Enter the two full file paths to fill the left and right file comparison windows.

-----

A large block of zero-valued bytes is most likely padding.  The general ordering of FLAC files is header tags - embedded images - audio data.  For FLAC file structure details, see https://xiph.org/flac/format.html#scope

You can find locations in the binary file using Search > Find, entering either hex or text values.  For example, search for "00 00 00 00" to find zero-valued blocks.  To find embedded images in a FLAC file, search for "image".  If your file has five embedded images, then you should get five hits for "image".  Images are also listed in the Media Compare view.

BTW, BC 5 features a slick modern dark mode skin - black, grey, colored button icons, and user selectable text/highlight colors (Tools > Options > Appearance)!   ;)

5/14/2024: Edited multiple times for clarity.

BC 4.4.7 | BC 5.0 Beta (build 29328) | Disclaimer:  I have no business association whatsoever with Scooter Software, Inc.  I'm just a delighted daily user of BC since 2005 and early contributor to the BC user forum (mostly 2005-2008).

There's a smartlist for Recent Playing Nows.

If you're going to much trouble to build a playlist, why not build a real playlist, even a temporary one just for this purpose.

Hey All,
The Australian Pink Floyd show are touring the sates from the end of May.
If you like the music of Floyd and want to see it performed by the Band that David Gilmour had to play at his Birthday Party and that Nick Mason said of  “They are better than we were” then go and see them.

JimH you could treat the team to a night out to see them!

+1

I have in the past requested undo for the playing now queue.

I waste a lot of time fixing my mistakes that wipe out my queue.
