Title: 19 for Mac crashes when attempting to build playlist?
Post by: orrinoconnor on June 16, 2014, 11:30:59 am
I have been trying to build playlists without success.
When I drag a file to drop it in the playlist media centre crashes I might get a few files done but ultimately it crashes and I have lost all, it's like a game of russian roulette.
It is impossible,, to build a playlist, is this a problem for anyone else?

Running the latest build on a Mac Mini OSX 10.8.5 I haven't been able to reproduce this.  I added many different files to a new playlist without a problem.  Does it crash when you try to add only certain files?  Would you be willing to send a log? Here is a link explaining how to send a log. (http://wiki.jriver.com/index.php/Logging)

Adam I will have to get a bit of help with working out that log file thing, my understanding within the field is limited.
I am using a macbook pro running OS X 10.8.5 (12F45) (Mountain lion)
I am not hold a desire to upgrade to the Mavericks OS at present as I have heard many negative reports about it!

Steps for creating a log:

1. Open Media Center
2. Go to [Help > Logging] and check the box that says "Output to a log file".  If that is checked already, click "Reset Log" at the bottom.
3. Reproduce the problem.  In your case, create a playlist and add songs to it until Media Center crashes.
4. Reopen Media Center and go back to the logging window.  This time click "Report Problem".  This saves a .zip file on your desktop.
5. Come back to the forum and respond here.  On the "Post Reply" page, click "Additional Options" and choose the file to attach.  (The log file that MC made on the desktop)

Thanks!

Adam, finally worked it out, thank you for the step through.

Hi
I am having the same problem with crashes when I build playlists - both when I dark a whole album to the playlist, or when i drag a single file. It doesn't happen every time but close enough so that its essentially impossible to build a playlist.
I have enclosed my own log file here.

I have been searching around and it seems that this is a very common problem.
I think the ability to build playlists is a basic function that should work, it is a function that most would require today.

The problem is with drag and drop.  Not with playlists.  We're working on it.

I have managed to build a playlist using right-click/send to playlist.
If I try then to move tracks up or down the play list using drag and drop the thing shuts down.
I am glad to hear you are aware of and are working on the problem.

I didn't see this listed as fixed in the most current build, but I thought I would try this again, it works for a while but then caused a crash. I know JRiver is aware of this issue so I have not attached or mailed a log file from this crash ( I have previously ). Just reporting the news, not a complaint ( I use the SendTo command to build a playlist )
