I am running JRiver MC25 on a PC with Windows 10
I am storing all files on an ext drive (3TB) and am also trying to sync a KANN handheld device with 512Gb SD card.
Mostly, the above set up works fine…BUT when I try to sync the handheld, if I click the details tab in MC, to see what is about to be synced, the details list on the right shows multiple files "in the queue" even though I have just synced 5 mins earlier.
When I click sync, the status of all these file turns, one by one, to “waiting” and as the sync process works thru, most of these end up with the status of “error”. (see attached screen dump)
Sync should only take minute, but because of the above glitch, it takes 40 minutes. Any help would be gratefully accepted. PS-- i note there are hundreds of Sync Error posts over the years-- JR, can you maybe write a fix that would solve it once and for all??

What are your sync options?
-
the default ones, pretty well! thanks-- that is:
Enable album artwork
Simultaneous conversions=4
Specified output format only when necessary
Encoder;FLAC (compression level 6- add 4k Padding block - Add seek table (if possible)
Cover art- no change
Image and video - no conversion (i have no video or image files)
Audio path: Music\(Album\Artist(auto))\(Album)\
Audio Filename rule- not set
Image, video, data and playlist not set
Save Cover art to Folder.jpg file
Supported tips WAV, MP3, MPEG etc-- a long list of file types..
Device display name KANN SD card Storage card
and on the Right hand side
Media types- All Audio

The attached screenshot might help-- I had just synced, then clicked "Recheck Sync"
then I clicked the name column so duplicate names would be next to each other.. and you can see that all the "In Queue" files are already "On device"
I have tried deleting the "in Queue" files from the queue-- but they just get added again!!
-
Is FLAC in your supported filetypes list?
-
yes- here is the complete list
wav;mp3;mpg;mpeg;jpg;bmp;gif;png;tif;tiff;wma;ogg;aac;m4a;m4b;m4p;mp2;3gp;flac;aiff;aif

It shouldn't even be trying to convert the M4A files, so I'm puzzled about the failure.
I've tried to setup a similar test case, but it's working fine.
For the path I see you have this in your post:
Music\(Album\Artist(auto))\(Album)\
But you need brackets for it to work like this:
Music\[Album Artist (auto)]\[Album]\
No idea if that could be a cause?
Thanks for any extra details.
-
oops!!- so sorry, yes, the Audio path is exactly set as you described-- i didn't notice the square brackets!!
so that's not the solution...

As a test, you might try setting the device up again from scratch. You could remove it from the handheld options page and then redetect it.
After that, maybe make settings changes slowly and test if it's still working.
Sorry we don't have a more concrete answer.

nice thought, thanks
i have just done all of that
First thing i noticed was that the Action Window after clicking Sync Handheld, showed "Device is fully synchronized"!!- even though it had just been redetected. a few minutes later it reported that 453 files needed to be synced-- exactly the same 453 files that always get added to the queue and end up, after syncing as status "Error".
This was after selecting no sync options other than the default (and "All Audio" Media Types)
anyone else able to help?- it's driving me nuts!!
