Title: Pulseaudio Troubles
Post by: Cait_ on November 14, 2018, 06:27:56 pm
I have a problem using Pulseaudio with MC24 for Linux. Whatever I do when I choose 'Pulse [ALSA] PulseAudio Sound Server' I get the same error message when I try to play music. 'Something went wrong with Playback...' And that the device [ALSA] can't play at '48 kHz 2Ch' - I tried 44 kHz as well. I have set the DSP output and the PulseAudio conf file to the the corresponding rates. The error occurs with both the internal speakers and the Bt device.

I know about the quality limitations with Pulse but I generally send the sound via Bluetooth to my amp and I believe using Pulse is the only way to achieve this? Certainly the Bluetooth device isn't available to choose from the devices list on MC24.

So I've installed Pavucontrol and set it up and using VLC (configured to use Pulse) , I've tested playing media to the internal speakers and the Bt device - all works lovely, so I'm fairly certain that PulseAudio is working fine, so I'm at a bit of a loss as to what to try next.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

It's worth noting that Bluetooth is limited to 48 kHz and you'll have to resample everything you play to it via DSP Studio > Output Format to 48 kHz.

Thanks for the reply :)

I didn't realise that Bluetooth was limited to 48k, but in practice PulseAudio is using that rate and I've set up the DSP studio accordingly. Also, the sound via bluetooth into my amp from other apps is plenty good enough for me and it's better than using my internal laptop speakers and I don't want to be trailing audio leads from amp to laptop.
