What happens when we have this speaker setup, remnant of the early +5.1 surround days with a single "surround back" speaker? Will it work properly if 7.1 is set in DSP Studio/Output Format? Perhaps you could consider adding this? Thank you.
* This is not about the old DTS-ES 6.1 Matrix/Discrete audio format, but actual speakers. :)

Set it up as 7.1 with the two back channels summed.

Thanks. Assuming I've the connected the rear speaker to the 'Left' input, would this be correct?
-
Yes.

You may want to reduce the volume in the combined channel, since you have added two channels.
You may also want to use or move the Parametric Equaliser before Room Correction, or you are going to muck that up.
Or just use Room Correction to fix the doubled volume in the new channel.

If you are outputting 7.1 from MC to an AVR that is configured for 6.1 it will do the work for you.

No, I'm sending the decoded signal to the multi-channel analog inputs of the AVR. Old one, no HDMI. It does have some channel routing capabilities but for those inputs, they are very limited.
