Post by: thecrow on April 17, 2015, 07:31:44 am
I am curious to find out what JRemote offers but I cannot find a trial version for Android
Can anyone help me?

There is no trial version.  Sorry.

You could use Gizmo.  It's free and does something similar.

Thanks for the quick reply.
I have tried Gizmo and it is fine.
I also use BubbleUPnP for DLNA duties which I really like.
But having seem so many positive remarks about JRemote I was curious about what the differences were and whether it was worth spending the extra money to get it.

For me, JRemote gives me much more info about what is playing (meta tags) and possibilities to command my playlist. Soon, also wake on lan and put to sleep of my htpc will be possible with JRemote. Big downside: no caching possibilities of songs next in playlist. Besides that, definitely worth upgrading from Gizmo to JRemote...

its worth it; it much better than any 100$ remote and it looks very nice .. can't give trial periods on  paid apps through Apple and Google in my understanding even if they wanted to.

The IOS version is very stable, the android is in beta .. you can wait if you want, I wouldn't ... I like being part of the process :)

The Google Play Store has a two hour refund policy. At least enough to try it out.

Yeah, when you buy an app, on the app page in Play Store you'll see a refund button, which will be replaced by the regular uninstall button after 2 hours. It used to be 15 minutes, but obviously that's too little time to test an app, so they changed it :)
