If you have an up to date IdNUC (should be running MC24 before upgrading) or a recent IdPi (builds for the 3B+) you can now get MC25 by updating from the Id menu.
-
Thanks, Bob.
-
Smooth upgrade of NUC, via panel to Id:24.0.12 MC:25.0.50 Engen:1.0.69 without need to re-enter password. Many thanks to the team.

Fantastic news Bob,
Upgrade was quick and painless
-
Painless update and usb connection to Benchmark DAC now working sooo smoooothly - yaaay! Well done guys and thanks Bob.
-
Mine also updated smoothly. Thanks.
-
Update for my IdPi was quick and problem free.
Thanks.
-
Thanks for the reports back!
-
None negative either. Well done!

My idpi did not update and is still on mc 24.0.78

My idpi did not update and is still on mc 24.0.78
What happened when you ran the update function?
-
The usual procedure of checking for the update etc. It said there was no update and just rebooted. I use VNC on my pc to connect for this.
Maybe my idpi is an earlier pi? Just a Pi3B, not the 3B+?
Is there a way to tell?
If it is a pi 3B, will an update be forthcoming for it?
Thanks for your help.
-
At the bottom of the text menu, what is the Id version?

On the Pi board, between the long row of GPIO pins and the processor, it will say what model it is. If it's a B+ it will say Raspberry Pi 3 Model B+.
-

ID 24.0.9.
As for the pi it is set up with a hat for digital spdif coax and I don't really want to take it apart. I will assume it is a B.

I just updated the B repo to 25.
Give it another try.

Great stuff! Now updated and fine. Thanks so much. Chris

I haven't been active in a while, but just saw this, did the update and am now running on 25.0.50 on the IdPi! Thanks!
-
Perhaps my IdNUC falls into a hole, but it won't upgrade using this method. I checked the other forum subjects and nothing seems to match. So, I have a NUC6CAYH based Id purchased in January 2018 that is now running MC 23.0.84 (from update just this afternoon) Id:22.0.81, Engen:1.0.69 and cannot seem to find an appropriate means to load MC 25 on it.
I could use some guidance...
Thanks,
Tim

I have the same model which started with MC23. I have continually upgraded through MC24 and MC25 making sure it is connected to the internet and with HDMI into TV with the Id running in GUI mode, keyboard and mouse attached to usb ports on Id, run option 12 a couple of times. Make sure you have your password available which came with the email when you purchased the Id as sometimes you will need to re-enter it.
I hope this helps.

If you can't get there using the method described by HS12 you'll need to download the repair stick and install the new version (it starts on 24) then update as normal.
If you do this be sure to make a library backup from MC to the samba share (/export/media) and copy it off the Id and do the same for any media you may have on it's export partition.
The repair stick will give you the option to save the existing data but it's necessary to always have a backup.
-
Okay, tried the repeated updates path (HS12's suggestion), it stopped updating and states:
The following packages have been kept back:
jriverid mediacenterid
0 upgraded, 0 newly installed, 0 to remove and 2 not upgraded
So I tried the repair Id FW method. I ended up with the same messages (no updates performed) only now I've progressed (after one upgrade cycle) to:
Id:22.0.83 MC:23.0.102 Engen:1.0.69
Next thoughts?
Thanks,
Tim
-
Just a thought - have you used option 18 and re-entered your licence key to see if that will let you go further? Be careful that you don't mix up 1 and I and 0 and O.
-
Yes, twice now. No change, still not updating.
Other thoughts?
Thanks,
Tim

The experts should be back in the office today after the US long weekend but the only thing that I can think of in the mean time is that the Id may have lost it's network connection to the internet.
-
If you ended up on MC22 you are using the wrong repair/update image. This is the link from the post:
Media Center Id repair image (all NUC models): http://files.jriver.com/Id/IdX/idXrepair8.img (Latest)
(note edited this to the latest image which starts out at MC25)

I am running the latest MC 25 version on my Id Pi. It accesses my music library on a NAS server. This configuration has always run and sounded great with my DAC. I just downloaded a new DSD 128 album containing 3 tracks of 9, 25 and 36 minutes (translates to 700MB, 2.1GB, and 2.6GB respectively). Only the first track was added to the JRiver library.
I also have JRiver on a Win10 laptop running MC25 as well sourcing the same music files on the NAS server. The same DSD files were all successfully added to the JRiver library.
Is there a file size limitation when the library is on the Id Pi?

It that the IdPi 3B+ or the new IdPi4 ?
What is the file type of the DSD album, dsf or dff?
Are they the compressed versions?

Using IdPi 3B+. (Where do I verify this? Had Pi for a year)
File type is .dsf
They are not compressed.
Verified the files play perfectly using my Win10 laptop running JRiver MC25.
Thanks!

Thanks for the details!
It should be pretty easy to track down...

Here is what I have so far.
I can put the a 2.8G DSD128 file on the IdPi and it plays (though it can't keep up with converting it from DSD to 48k HDMI output so buffers about 1/3 of the time).
I think your issue may have to do with the NAS, Matt will do some testing with our QNAP tomorrow.

I have a catalog of approximately 24 DSD albums with over 100 DSD files of 64 and 128 resolutions - all EXCEPT these two very large ones play perfectly using the Id. ALL play perfectly when my laptop is used in place of the Id. I am using USB to my Wyred4Sound Anniversary DAC. I can’t agree that it could be the Synology NAS because all play or convert file formats without issue. BTW, my music library consists of over 21000 flac, wav, and dsd files representing about 1.2 TB.
My main question is why these 2 large DSD files are not being added to my library on the Id? They are not corrupt because they play perfectly when JRiver using Win10 is the source to the DAC.
Thank you for any insight you may have.

It's still likely to be the NAS since there are a boatload of possible options when mounting it and we may not be doing one your NAS needs.
Can you go to the disk menu on the Id and show the status of the mounted disk and post that here?

I have no mounted disks. The NAS and Id are on the same wired network.

Sorry, I meant show the status of the Network Drives (option 13) in the Disk Menu

Option 13 on the Id is the Network Manager. No Disk information is displayed.

Oh, I see.
You aren't mounting the NAS you are accessing it's DLNA server from MC, correct?
That points to an issue with the filesize either as provided by the NAS or received by MC.
Are you accessing the NAS in the same fashion on your Laptop?
Is the Laptop running 64 bit MC?

Yes to all questions. And since the file sizes are being reported ok to the laptop, I don’t think the NAS is suspect. BTW, I was able to convert these large DSD files to 24bit 352k FLAC files of less than a GB each and MC on the Id saw them and added them to the library. I’m sure there is a file size issue with DSD files in MC on the Id.

Thanks for the data.
I think the most likely possibility is that the file size is overflowing the int being used (platform dependent I'd guess) which is a bug. The DLNA code in MC should be explicitly using int64's on all DLNA operations. Will check when time allows.

I tried this with our QNAP TS250 using it's default DLNA server on 64 bit windows, 32 bit windows, IdNuc and IdPi and they all worked.
I'm baffled.
Attached is the screenshot from the IdPi.

Don't know what to say Bob. I'm using a DS212j Synology using DLNA, 64 bit Windows, IdPi - basically the same config. I reboot the IdPi everytime I add new music files. Is there a way to auto-import? Can't enter a path to the NAS in the import dialog window because obviously it's not mounted.
How do you do screenshots on the IdPi and get the pic to another computer?

When you add new files to the NAS since you are connecting to it using it as a DLNA server and the server reports it's results once upon connection you will see the behavior you are describing with the added files not showing up.
You don't need to restart the Id though, you could just exit MC on the Id and it will start back up within a minute, reload the NAS and merge the changes in with it's database.
The way I got the screen shot is by connecting to the Id with VNC and doing a screen shot of that on the Mac, you can do this with a PC of course too.
