Title: 24/88.2
Post by: CWillCalho on January 03, 2020, 06:26:35 am
Why is the volume at this resolution much softer when streaming to an Oppo 203 from my MacBook Pro than other resolutions?

Is it true 24 bit material?
It may not have the dynamic range to get to 24 bits.
You might try turning on volume leveling and have the stream sent decoded as 24 bit wave.

Well, it happens on all my 24/88.2 files, so I would think at least some of them if not all should be 24 bit.

No issues with my 24/88.2 files. Maybe the Oppo is doing some sort of conversion (dithering/resampling)? Are you using any DSP Studio > Output Format settings?

Are you using DLNA (network connection) to the Oppo?

If so, your choice of DLNA renderer profile (within MC) will affect this.  It's kinda complicated, so I'll leave the details to someone else.  If this does turn out to be a DLNA thing, you might want to repost this in the Media Network forum because there are people there that are very good at DLNA.  Very few of them hang out on the Mac forum.

Good luck!

Brian.
