Just as I said in the title I insert the disk but it doesn't auto rip. When I tell it to rip manually it doesn't detect the disk. Anyone else had this problem, is it a bug?
-
What version of OS X are you on? I started having the same issue when I upgraded to El Capitan.
-
El Capitan, only started having this issue when i got this update.
-
I think this will be resolved in the next Mac version of MC21.
-
Same problem here. Both MC 20 and MC 21 will not detect a disc. I'm using El Capitan, and made the most recent update to MC 21 on Saturday.
-
Did you try the build of MC posted at the top of this board?
-
Jim- The most recent build I could find was dated September 8th. Did I miss a more recent version? I'm thinking that there is an incompatibility with El Capitan since both MC 20 and 21 won't recognize a disc.
-
This will be fixed in the coming build in a couple days.

Not that I'm piling on but I've just installed a version of MC for demoing and it too does not read 2 of my external CD/DVD/Blueray players. Looks like the app is looking at the right partition (/dev/rdisk5) and the drive is mounted in the Finder. Media Center is not reading the drive however. Here are some details on my setup:
- Media Center: version 21.0.8
- Mac mini (Late 2014)
- System: MacOS X 10.11.1(15B42)
- External Drives used: Samsung Portable BD Writer Model SE-506 and LG Model SP60NB50
Hope this helps. I would like to test the CD ripping capabilities before purchasing JRiver for my use. Thanks.

Ok. Just got the word that 21.0.19 was out. I installed it and successfully ripped audio CDs! Tested 2 rips so far and looks (sounds) good!
-
Installed 21.0.19 because CD ripping didn't work correctly with the previous version 21.0.08.
Ripping worked fine (I started with ALAC, about 15 CDs) incl. correct representation in the library. However, when I started playing, there was no sound and titles seem to skip every 5-10 seconds. I did find out, that playing titles which I had ripped before updating to 21.0.19 everything was fine.
I then tried another option: rip again using FLAC - this worked fine in any respect, except some data (album cover) wasn't correctly displayed in JRemote. At least playback works OK now.
Not quite satisfying though. ?
Feedback/advise welcome.

I downloaded 21.0.19 a little while ago and have successfully ripped four CD's into DSD/dsf. Occasionally, I'll have a glitch along the lines of being told no disc is detected, but if I click on "Rip disc" it will start with no difficulty. No playback problems encountered at all so far. One other odd little quirk is that the rip disc tab under the Action Window doesn't want to do anything, but when I go up to Tools > rip disc, it will work fine.

I'm not sure I understand. CDs have PCM audio. SACDs have DSD. Maybe you just mistyped?
Brian.

Ripping CDs to DSD/DSF = bad (and pointless) idea. You're just wasting space for NO benefit whatsoever.
-
Just trying it out to see if it worked, that's all.
