Title: JRemote Naming for Android
Post by: styxx10 on June 26, 2015, 08:19:22 pm
Hi,
Just wondering if anyone else is having the same concerns. The naming of both the IOS and Android versions of JRemote.
In hindsight, whilst it seemed a good idea, keeping the same name  both are separate applications that work on different device types.
In the forum it is getting more and more confusing to know which version of the application people are commenting on and many aren't being specific as
to which version they are commenting on.
Anyone else feel the same ?

It is more confusing sometimes, but I still think it is better from a branding perspective.  Is Instagram called something else on Android? What about Instapaper? Evernote? OneNote? WeChat? WhatsApp?

I'm sure all of those have technical differences between versions, and sometimes it leads to confusion, but having separate app names leads to even more confusion of a different type. That's why, while it used to be done that way, the practice has basically been abandoned everywhere.
