I've unintentionally opened Spotlight many times due to this as well!

Hello all,

I've been having an issue since upgrading to MC32.

Occasionally when switching from playing an audio file to video MC will hang. It only seems to happen after MC has been running for a while, on the order of an hour.

When it happens UI is completely unresponsive, any attempted action results in Window's "Program is not responding" message with options to terminate the program or wait. I once gave it about five minutes to respond with no change.

All audio files are flac and video files are MKV.
All files are retrieved from a local NAS.

I'm 95% sure it hasn't happened when I have clicked the stop button prior to starting video playback.
MC has hung both when trying to playback a video from active audio playback and after a file has finished playing (playback stops with the track title and status "waiting" shown in the player bar with the waveform still visible).

I've included my most recent log dump, which has a log of MC hanging and a log of my unsuccessful attempts to reproduce the issue.

Thanks in advance for your help,

Troy

If no face data is present, would it be possible to simply click and drag on the image to create a new box?
  Currently, if my mouse hovers over the image it is a 'move' icon. If I click and drag, a box is created wherever I released the left-click (with prompt saying 'a new region is created according to the rectangle you created on the image'). This isn't actually true as it does not reflect the area I tried to create.

I will look into this. You are right. Drag and release is a better way of creating a rectangle.

Regions & [People] fields correctly updated in LR when created or changed in MC

If I rename region in LR (that was initially created in MC), this is reflected in MC however I still end up with some duplicate data
   Start with two regions in MC (Spencer & Chris)
   Rename these in LR (Spencer LR & Chris LR)
   Update library from tags in MC
   MC Face Tagging now has four region entries, but only two of these have rectangles in the image view
      The original rectangles are renamed Spencer LR and Chris LR. There are two entries Spencer & Chris without rectangle data now (Point 0,0).
   Similarly, [People] also has four entries instead of two.
I know you have detailed the complexities of knowing what has been changed and linking the region data to the [People] data.
Can you see any way around this? Otherwise, we should be recommending one way tagging direction so as not to create duplicate entries.
Could there be a tool/button in the face tagger to detect and remove 0,0 region data?

I can add an image option "Do not merge data from MJMD" when loading data for face-tagging.

The reason we merge from MJMD is that it was the only way [People] data was saved before we started supporting Regions. By checking this checkbox, users declare that they already have merged them and thus there is no need to merge anymore. This is assuming LR saves to both Regions and PersonInImage.

Suggestions:
  • ability to view & edit the 'Name' of the region under the box in Face Tag View (a la lightroom images shared in post further up)
  • when typing into the 'Name' box (either in the Face tagging pane on the right or in the box itself if added) please allow autofill / selection from the [People] field
  • additional info that would be helpful to display in the Face Tag pane on the right: Number of People, any Regions not named and any regions without coordinates (eg the 0,0 example above)
  • A 'recently tagged' list could be really helpful here. Often there may be only a handful of people in an album when tagging. Would save manually typing the same names over and over again

I will see how much I can do with this list.

Thanks for testing and suggestions.

a major city in Australia lat 153°7'0.27"E long 27°57'9.93"S
  [Country] Australia
  [State] Queensland
  [City] empty
  [Sublocation] Boyland, Boyland Road

Code: [Select]
<addressparts>
<road>Boyland Road</road>
<city_district>Boyland</city_district>
<municipality>Scenic Rim Regional</municipality>
<state>Queensland</state>
<ISO3166-2-lvl4>AU-QLD</ISO3166-2-lvl4>
<country>Australia</country>
<country_code>au</country_code>
</addressparts>

The data returned has no <city> element. We try <town> (seen in some of your previously provided sample images), and <village> (common in the US), if we don't find <city>. Maybe we should also try using <municipality> if City is still empty.

For a file with lat 27°29'2.12"S & long 153°1'36.66"E
I am not sure why South Brisbane would be duplicated in the above example.

Code: [Select]
<addressparts>
<amenity>Queensland Children's Hospital</amenity>
<house_number>501</house_number>
<road>Stanley Street</road>
<suburb>South Brisbane</suburb>
<city_district>South Brisbane</city_district>
<city>Brisbane City</city>
<state>Queensland</state>
<ISO3166-2-lvl4>AU-QLD</ISO3166-2-lvl4>
<postcode>4101</postcode>
<country>Australia</country>
<country_code>au</country_code>
</addressparts>

Here "South Brisbane" appears both as a <city_district> and a <suburb>. Not sure how we should handle this. Only use one? Or don't use duplicate?

Would you consider using \ as the delimited in [Places] such that it can be nested in views?

[Places] is comma-delimited and that was not my decision (it has been like that for a long time). I don't have a preference but I don't know if there was an initial reason for it.

[Sublocation] is delimited the same way.

Some indicator that the query is occurring could be helpful eg in the status bar Eg 'updating location data file 1/4' etc

Maybe.

I agree with others that I would pay for a user API if this were available. Can sometimes have a thousand photos to tag at a time, not to mention a library of several hundred thousand I may be going back to ;) Don't want to stretch the friendship and get MC banned. And obviously would like longevity and reliability of the service.

Update MC to build 48. You can use your own key.

Next feature will be 'Add coordinates from Map' to address scenarios 3 & 4 above :)

That seems to be more challenging. We will see about that.

Could we get an option to disable Spotlight or at least the function of dragging from around the Player Bar? When trying to grab the title bar area of the program to relocate the window I get a spotlight tab instead of the window if I don't pause long enough before dragging.

If you need precise dates it gets a bit more complicated.
Don't they just. I still say a silent "thank you" to you (and Matt) for your help with leap years whenever I'm working in that area.

Dates are measured in days, so you can do Math(Now()-31) or Math(Now()-365). If you need precise dates it gets a bit more complicated.

I updated the instructions.

Users can use their own key.
Data from the server is cached, so the next time you try to run it on an image that is taken at the same or near location, the server will not be involved.

still have questions. So there is no need to preface [Last Played,0] with Math() in this compare statement:

[=Compare( Math( [Last Played, 0] ), < , Math( Now() - Load(GVRandom) ) )]=1

If I wanted to increase/decrease months or years when performing math on the value of Now() is there an easy way to do this as in:

Math( Now() + 1, y) or Math( Now() + 3, M)

PGS looks fine to me. I've tried to find candidates where the problem would show, but so far no problems.
