Title: "Lost Scanner [Solved]
Post by: Mark Tandy on April 20, 2018, 06:48:13 pm
Tried to get images from my scanner this morning but nothing happened.  Checked "Select Scanner" and 'Sources' window is empty.  I immediately opened Photoshop to see whether scanner is actually there and working; it was and it is.  Rebooted system - tried again - still no go.  Any ideas anyone?

Matt worked on making Scanners work on 64-bit, I'm not sure what ever happened to that. Maybe he can chime in.

Thanks Hendrick.  It shows up in JRiver System info (if that matters).

In the meantime, the 32-bit version should work fine with Scanning.
The big difference is that 32-bit uses TWAIN for scanning, which is an old and proven interface to talk to scanners. However, as it turns out, there basically are no 64-bit TWAIN drivers, so 64-bit MC has to do something else.

If I select "Acquire Images" under 'Tools' I'm shown a WIA driver for my scanner.  Unfortunately when I press "Acquire" nothing happens.  Is this a possible option that can be made to work?

Hold the phone - tried Photoshop with the WIA scanner option and nothing happened.  Un-USB'd the scanner, plugged it in again and WIA worked in Photoshop.  Tried again in JRiver and it worked!!

That'll do me - very happy.  Far as I'm concerned, case closed.  Many thanks for your input.
