Title: MC 25 hardware video acceleration
Post by: rhollan on July 11, 2019, 09:56:29 am
I am experimenting with a rather ambitious project: I would eventually like to have JRiver Media Center running on Linux, processing audio from an external source through a Dirac Live VST in a "Windows VST on Linux" host, and directing to an external DAC.

For now I would be happy with hardware video acceleration. As expected, out of the box, video.playback stutters on a Lenovo I7 laptop. This is not intended to be the final hardware.

Any suggestions as to what hardware MC "likes" for a standalone system?

The best hardware video acceleration on Linux will probably always be achieved with a NVIDIA graphics card of some sort. Intel would be second, but due to some library version conflicts isn't supported in Media Center on Linux right now, but will be in the future.
