Title: Problem importing .aif - .m4a - .mp3 into MC13
Post by: malcolmm on May 10, 2011, 07:40:59 am
Hi - been using MC13 for yonks. Have her loaded with >8,500 audio files (80Gig)

I needed to reinstall yesterday - got a warning that MC13 had closed - advised to uninstall, restart, reinstall

I did that but have had that message once since

I have prepared a few more files (no read only attribute) and place them in my destination parent folder like I always do.

Then I run import folder and have it directed to the correct folder - it tells me there are no files to import, but I know there are.

Does anyone have any knowledge they can give so I can continue to use this software.

Is there a limit to the amount of files this database can handle?

There is no known limit for files.  8500 isn't a big number.

M4A and AIF are not likely to work with MC13.  Maybe with a DirectShow filter.  See the wiki article here:

Thanks JimH - I did a reinstall (again) and the problem is all but resolved. No problem now importing .mp3s or .m4as.

Program won't play .aif files so I figure that is the reason MC13 won't import them - even tho I was able to associate MC13 with .aif files in options/file associations/

I will read the link you provided - but is there a plugin of something that will fix this? I wonder if .aif file codec (?) can be updated.

Again, thanks for that.

Incidentally, I'd upgrade to MC15 but I have no use for all the new bells and whistles. I only use MC for audio - not into the other stuff.
