HI I just updated my Nexus 5 and 7 to Lollipop and now neither device will play audio files. Video is fine.
I have a Samsung which I've no upgraded and Audio still works on that. Anyoenelse have this issue?
The files will play on the server through Gizmo but will not work on the Android device.
The device will check cache OK then will say "preparing" and just stay like that.
I've reloaded Gizmo and cleared out cache on the Nexus
Any help please....

I upgraded and Gizmo plays fine. Strange.
-
I guess it might be a nexus thing. Strange indeed.
-
I have a Nexus 5 too.
-
Ahh even stranger :-)

Can you reboot the phone? Maybe there's something weird in memory.
-
Go into android settings and keep tapping the build number until the developer options are unlocked. Go into the developer options and check if NuPlayer is ticked. If it is untick it and reboot.

Hi The Nuplayer was ticked and I've now unticked it but I still have the same issue. Thank you for trying.
-
I also have a Nexus 5 and have this problem. Tried the NuPlayer adjustment also and it is still doing the same thing. Odd that Matt's Nexus 5 is fine, yet mine and zerotouch's have the same problem... ?

I checked, I can reproduce the problem on my Nexus 5 with Lollipop.
Using gizmo to control the music on the server works fine, but playing on the device gets stuck on "preparing" Nuplayer on or off makes no difference.

Try different file types and sample rates. 128Kbps MP3, for example, or WAV.

When this happens in on my old google TV. I turn off caching

That worked ;D thank you so much

Where is that setting? I don't even know what it's set to on my phone.
Thanks.

Hi there in Gizmo go to Cache Download ahead. Set this to disable.
This worked on the nexus 5 and 7
-
Disabling cache worked. Thanks.
Is there any chance we'll be able to regain the ability to cache (in a future update)? I ask because caching make playback to much smoother when you are in an area with dodgy signals.
-
I've no idea but I agree it will cause issues when out and about
-
Newer versions of Android are skeptical of apps that write to directories that they don't "own". You may have found a related problem.
-
I can reproduce the problem, I'll take a look.

I can verify, disabling cache works here too.

Thanks for all of the support. It's good to know that Gizmo will work now.
I'd like to request that in future versions of Gizmo, all users be able to cache our streaming music regardless of Android version.
Thanks again for all of your help! ;D

I'm glad to hear. My old crap logitech revue is helping others fix their problems.

Gizmo 20.0.34 has been posted on the top of the Remotes board, and should fix playback with the cache active on Lollipop Android devices.
