Title: iPod synchronizing weirdness
Post by: sthomp on July 08, 2004, 01:44:48 pm
When I sync my iPod, it used to delete only those tracks that weren't supposed to remain and then copy all new tracks.

Now it deletes everything and copies nothing. In other words, syncing leaves my iPod empty. If I then sync it a second time, it will copy everything it was supposed to copy the first time. (However, it has to copy everything instead of only the new stuff, making for a longer transfer.)

I have no idea what I changed or what may be causing this. Any ideas?

Thanks.

What version are you using? This did happen to me, quite often, a week or two ago, but I haven't seen it happen recently.

Your question reminded me to check for an update. I just updated to 10.0.149, and it cleared up. I have no idea why it started happening, since I hadn't just changed versions. Glad it's fixed, though. Thanks.

It turns out the problem wasn't fixed with the new version, but I figured out what causes it.

When I'm choosing playlists to synchronize, if I choose "Select All Subitems" on a Playlist Group, then everything gets deleted as I described. If I instead select each playlist manually, the sync happens as it should.

Perhaps this will be fixed later, but in the meantime it's easy enough to prevent.

sthomp,

Thanks. This is fixed in the next build of MC 10.
