Title: APE Playback Unsupported Under v22.0.93?
Post by: Jamil on April 20, 2017, 05:04:11 am
I just installed this version yesterday under Ubuntu 16.04.2 LTS Xenial.  My library import from my NAS skipped all of my APE files.  They are not included in the library at all now after my import had completed.  When I manually attempt to open a file, this is what happens:

Thanks for the report.  We'll take a look after Matt comes out from hiding under his desk :)

APE file playback is working fine for us on Linux.

What version APE files are you trying to play?  Look at the "Compression" column in Media Center.

If you have an old file, it might not be supported.  The define for supporting old formats keeps getting toggled as I keep updating the builds!

They playback just fine with MC22.0.88 under Windows.  This same file from my screenshot on the same NAS exists under Windows where the Linux version is totally ignoring it.  The column shows me:  Insane (3.99)

3.99? Nearly 13 years old since that version was released, so that's likely the issue.

All my APE files are created with dbpowrer amp.  That is all that this software supports even though the latest codec is installed.  I have the latest version of it too.

Also, as I stated elsewhere, Audacious has zero problems with these same files under Linux.

This post is incorrect.  All versions of the Monkey's Audio codec (even the latest) stamp 3.99 in the output file.  I just downloaded the latest version of the desktop tool v4.25 then created an AP file.

Take a look at my attached screenshot.

Monkey's Audio files stopped moving file versions at v3.99.  So using the very latest code produces v3.99 files.

In other words, the program version and the file version are independent.
