Title: Playback caching and remote filesystems
Post by: p0o9i on May 10, 2018, 12:40:05 pm
Hello,

I'm evaluating the MC24 now as it should have awesome feature - long memory buffering. (Song or album)
The main motivation for me to do this is the fact I am often in places with not really stable Internet connection and often use network media sources. It seems to allocate the memory well. But there is a strange detail to it.

I activated buffering of whole song (decoded) and disconnected the machine. Playback continues well, however the slider (playback progress) hangs after some time. Then when the end of the song is encountered, MC hangs, totally.
This brings me to second problem I encounter. The existence of a file seems to be checked on beginning of playback. When the playback is stopped and then resumed after connection timed-out MC hangs. And it is basically impossible to end it (doesn't even respond to killall -s9).

System is Linux, amd64, networking filesystem method sshfs.
Are these bug known? What is a way to track the issues down?
