Title: setting video playback to another sound card?
Post by: galaxyblur on April 06, 2005, 02:03:21 pm
I have a pro-audio sound card that I use for music-making, and I set Media Center to use it for audio playback, but my video playback still comes through the default system sound card...is there a way to change this?

Do you have "Line In" checked as the source when listening to vid-audio? If that's not working, my guess is that you would have to take the audio out of your video card and plug it directly into your pro audio card and select it as an external source.

i can't see a way to set the audio settings for video playback at all.

as for your second guess, i was afraid of that...more wires... *sigh*

(Galaxyblur, did you find a solution?)

!!! Please note the following zone configuration works perfectly with audio files. The problem comes from VIDEO playback !!!

I've a similar problem:

- Zone 1 (assigned to default internal souncard): plays music

- Zone 2 (assigned to a secondary USB soundcard): plays video

This configuration works only if I define the USB soundcard as the default audio device in the Control Panel. If the internal soundcard is set as the default, there is no sound on the USB output.

Any thoughts?

You're exactly right, but I can't use my pro-audio soundcard as a default, since I would have system sounds and stuff like that coming through it and messing up what I record.

I don't know if there's another way.
