Title: Tracks numbers filed under Artist in Library
Post by: kzrebel on July 06, 2010, 01:04:33 pm
I have a strange library issue with Media Center 14.0.165.
12 tracks from the Album "Echoes, Silence, Patience, and Grace" are filed under the Artist node of the Library tree. Audio, Artists, (01) (02) .. (13). One track from the same Album is filed correctly under the Artist Foo Fighters.

Note that the track title is not listed, the track numbers (01), (02), etc. are displayed.

Looking at the Tags, I can't see any reason why they are filed differently.
I cleared the Library, and did another Import, and the same results.
Any suggestions for how to correct this.

Show (and correct) the 'Album Artist' column in Media Center.

By default, Media Center uses 'Album Artist' when it is filled in instead of the 'Artist' when browsing.  This is done so compilation albums can show up nicely as a single entry instead of scattered to lots of artists.

Hi Matt. Thanks for responding so quickly.

I'm not sure I was clear in explaining the problem, so I edited my original post.
If I browse Audio, Albums, Echoes, Silence, Patience & Grace all the tracks are listed.
If I browse Audio, Artists, Foo Fighters, Echoes, Silence, Patience & Grace only track (10) is listed.
The remaining tracks are listed under Artists, (01), (02), (03), (04), .. (13). Track (10) is correct.

I understand the Views default. This does not appear to be a Views issue at all.
Any other suggestions?

OK. I did correct the listing.

After renaming the the "Artists" it now displays the files correctly under both Albums and Artists.
I don't understand why it would do that for this one Album (of the same Artist) but I don't expect it would happen in Media Center 15.

Thanks for your good advise!

BTW
If you haven't seen the Foo Fighters: Live at Wembley Stadium blu-ray, it's worth watching.
