Title: Feature Request Search box at the top of panes
Post by: locust on May 10, 2021, 06:39:53 am
Hi, I usually use dropdown panes over any other type of pane as they provide a search box for each category.

The only thing that annoys me with dropdown panes is that when having several categories, some of them get truncated, which I don't find user friendly, whereas normal panes just fill the width of the space of the window and show all categories.

I did make a post about the categories getting truncated here > https://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php/topic,129258.msg896941.html#msg896941 (https://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php/topic,129258.msg896941.html#msg896941)

And I've searched on the forum about it and saw some posts that suggest it's a difficult thing to deal with and that's why it's not been implemented. I could live with normal panes but not without a search box at the top of each category. As my category lists can get quite large.

What I'd like to see is the option to have search boxes at the top of each category for normal panes, or rather an option for a new type of pane instead that has search boxes at the top of each category. Then I could finally use normal panes over dropdown panes

I hope this gets considered. Thanks

This would be nice if either (1) it was optional on a per-pane basis (in Customize View) or (2) it happened automatically when the number of displayed categories exceeded some threshold.

Overall: +1
