Title: Offline Listening
Post by: d_pert on August 27, 2019, 01:31:31 pm
Hi:

I've been using JRemote to stream from my home "server" using my workplace's wifi, and elsewhere.

Lovin' it! It's so cool to not have to curate and manage stored files on my iPhone ... periodically connecting to my PC ... never quite sure if I'm loading what I'll actually want to listen to during the following work week, etc. Being able to browse my home/master collection, at source, directly, using JRemote is simply awesome.

HOWEVER, it would be even better if I could -- like most cloud storage client apps do -- mark tracks or albums to "store offline" on my device. That way, if I'm somewhere without a connection, or I don't feel like using cell data bandwidth, I'd still have music to listen to.

Maybe if it could be made to:

--only do the downloading when on wifi
--automatically download and store the most recent few tracks/albums I've listened to, so as to keep up to date with latest favourites/discoveries
--download each individual track before playing, to play from a local cached file and retain the last X tracks in cache
