Title: Eagerly Awaiting :)
Post by: freddie40 on September 26, 2013, 11:43:07 am
Thought I would be the first to post about MC19 for the Mac.  Have pre-registered and I am eagerly awaiting it's release :)

You should be able to do a library backup in MC18, then restore in MC19.

We'll try to write this up soon for anyone else that needs more details.

Hey thanks for the tip Matt - I did the library back of 18 first - but built a new one for 19 - but will restore the 18 cause I believe that will bring back the Views I built for DSD and High Res files plus Play lists - is that correct?

Edited - OK I did as Matt suggested - restored my v18 backup library - it worked perfectly! I got my views and playlists back as well. Thank you so much!

Yes.  Restore brings back all files, playlists, views, and even optionally settings.

Thanks Matt - I tried it and it worked perfect - and FAST! (I edited my above post). Boy was your response fast. Only having one issue which I posted in the release thread for v19.

Matt, should we go ahead and download 19 for Mac?  It's ready for prime time?

Where will your post appear about library backup?

The library backup is under the file menu/library/backup. It's really simple to use. When you have the version installed, just hit the library restore, direct it to where you put the backup file, and you are good to go.

Is Mac version 19 ready or better to wait for a couple of weeks?   I don't want problems.

You can download 19 and try it and have both on your computer.  Just don't use the one that doesn't work well for you.

It's always hard to say how software will work on your computer even if I have the same software version.  All it takes is one setting to be different and it act differently.  So, you must try it for yourself.  Also, not to be underestimated, your use and help with debugging helps all of us and speeds the process up so feel free to wait but we (the users) like the help.   ;)

I have moved full bore to MC19. Once every few days I get a beach ball on initial startup but a force quit and re-start of the application cures that. I am happy with MC19 but I am also a tinkerer and by nature an early adopter, if you prefer a more conservative approach than wait a few weeks.
