Title: Live Tv changing channels (from GUIDE) is now even funkier
Post by: tzr916 on December 26, 2016, 09:20:31 am
Not sure if this happened in v48 or v52, or maybe since I started using ROHQ.....

Used to be live tv changing channels would do something like this:
-existing channel continues to play, then loops back on itself 1 second, then new channel starts to play.

The latest channel changing works exactly the same if you are just doing channel up/channel down, or punch in a channel number...

BUT if you press GUIDE then choose another channel (either press play or press enter then play) you get:
-existing channel freezes, whole screen blinks, mouse spin for a second like MC is going to crash, screen goes black for a second, then new channel begins to play.

Kinda scary, thinking MC is going to crash every time I change channels from the guide  ?

Please take a look at DirectShow filters while a channel is playing, and make a note of which tuner is being used.  Then change channel and make the same observation.  Has the tuner changed?  Have you setup different preferred tuners for different channels?  If the channels involved have different preferred tuners, changing channel will involve changing tuner.  Maybe this is what you are experiencing.

It's using the same tuner.

In fact when I do change to a channel that uses a different tuner (due to tuner preference), the problem does NOT occur.

Also noticed that when the guide is pulled up, the video playing in the corner is very very choppy (like a slide show) and the aspect ratio of the video does strange things (resizing) during the first few seconds of going into guide and coming out of guide.

^This part, after a minute, the whole Theater View GUI slowed to a crawl (I've reported this before MC21, now MC22), Restarted MC and these symptoms went away.

Changing channels from GUIDE is still funky (as described).

Did you try Red October Standard?

You can change your madVR settings to work around the problem.

Yes, changing madVR presentation to use Direct3D11 does help, no more spinning mouse cursor.

This workaround was supposed to be for AMD, guess it works for nvidia too  :D

A user reports that the latest Win10 update seems to be related to a TV problem.  Rolling back Win10 fixed it.

Is the "enable automatic fullscreen exclusive mode" checked in your madvr settings?
Try to toggle it on and off. Depending on your TV the handshake bwn the PC and TV can take a while...Not bad on my sharp but a little longer on the Sony.  I too have nvidia.

The madvr mainpage has some good info on how to tweak it

It was set to Off. I did actually try turning it on but that just seemed to make things worse / didn't like it.

What about the Nvidia setting as per the pic attached? Does it resolve it when using ROHQ in MC and Desktop mode in Nvidia?
Do you see you TV changing its resolution when it goes blank?
