I am blue all the same,
As to the nature of my soul and fame,
I'm often overlooked, but never forgotten.
At last, home on the western coast,
And known throughout the world is not a boast.

Have you looked at the ocean lately.

Around the USA it is more gray than blue.

But if I would have to Guess it is the Sky.

The only problem I have with this riddle Is the "Western Coast" part.

Etta James was top-notch.

Clues were blue and soul, in that she often sang the blues or soul, and was by nature quite blue and certainly full of soul.  She had a world fame that was often overlooked.  Etta lived on the west[ern] coast (Los Angeles, San Francisco).  And with classics such as At Last, she will never be forgotten, despite her unfortunate passing.

I had actually never heard of her. From the riddle I thought it might be a blues performer that had died. I googled "blues legend dead" and came up with her name.
