We've got Radio JRiver up and running, but we need help programming stations. The biggest need right now is Rock. I uploaded few playlists, but they weren't well received in Australia.
If you're able to help, just build a playlist of about 30 to 50 tracks, upload it by right clicking it and choosing Upload to Cloud. The post the link here. You could be famous.
Thanks.
-
I've tried this but cannot find the "Upload to cloud" option all I see is the Upload Playlist To Dr Who.
Using 24.0.41
-
Me too - we are talking flac files 16/44.1 yes?
-
Normal FLAC stereo files. Right click on a playlist of FLAC files to see the Upload option. You must have a Dr. Who account and be logged in.
It's possible we haven't extended it beyond the beta group yet. I can check.
Thanks for the help.
-
I assume you are right there JimH.+ When you say Rock would that include Indie and otherwise likewise strange genre which I tag as loud and noisy but fun?
-
You must have a Dr. Who account and be logged in.
Can you please fix this so that MC actually "Remembers me" when I tick the box at login?
I don't use Dr. Who because getting logged in is such a pain. Roboform doesn't work on the page inside MC, and I couldn't possibly remember the auto generated password for Dr. Who. Digging it out for the copy/paste-go-round is tiresome, so I just don't use it, especially as the remember me tick doesn't remember me, that's just annoying :)
I have similar issues with Pix01 in the streaming section.

Yes, we can improve it. We're working toward a unified login system.

To me it is more that as the service broadens there will need to be more "Genres". The current "Rock" playlist is more "Classic Soft Rock" as most of the tracks are decades old (well so is the Author I guess!!!). This is where having your professional curator also makes lot of sense as we each will have a different expectation of what a "Rock" playlist would have.

...and also a current top 100 pop playlist that is updated all the time.

I nominate jmone for "professional curator" - he seems to understand some of these genres. Any seconders? ;D
-
:) Jim tried that.... and all he got was old Oz Rock!

Yes, we can improve it. We're working toward a unified login system.
That's a brilliant idea. It would break down the boundaries between MC and online making the remote areas such as Doctor Who, Radio JRiver and Pix01 seem like a proper part of MC.

Oz Pub Rock

I'm going to merge this with the other thread sometime later today.
Thanks very much for your help.

Thank you very much!...I like your musical taste...Now you have a fan in Russia - it's me...Jim was right, you got world popularity...We are waiting for new playlists... ;D
-
Nice playlists. Jim are you planning to expose all these playlists under some Radio JRiver option like "User Submitted" that then shows what they are?

Thanks for the kind words, I am glad you enjoyed them.

I meant to get a few to add to the Rock station, but now it looks like we will need to provide a way for users to easily try all of them.
We could modify Doctor Who, I suppose.
It's really solving two different problems.
1. An easy to use interface that turns on music.
2. A way to save playlists and allow others to use them.
I can understand the need for both.
Thanks again to everyone for the help.

I asked Matt to put these playlists together into a new station. It's called Singles (as in, you got a single in baseball) and it's on the Radio JRiver page, which is on the Streaming page.
Streaming > Radio JRiver > Singles
-
Here in the UK we are not familiar with Baseball, isn't that like Rounders? ;)
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rounders (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rounders)
-
Here in the U.S., we're not familiar with the U.K. Isn't that like Scotland without the skirts?
-
OI! Kilts. Thank you very much :D
Scotland is Scotland. We are proud of this. It is a part of the United Kingdom. I do agree with that. The UK is definately better together.
Anyhow, moving along, could someone put the radio on? :)

Question - once I've uploaded a playlist to Dr Who - how do you get the url for it? I couldn't see anything obvious, but can't help but feel I'm missing something very simple...
Jim - I'll create some more mainstream rock playlists & upload them

These are not uploaded dr who playlists - your's looked nice though. JimH would need to give you permission to upload the actual files to the cloud.

Thanks for clarifying & nice you liked the list
I have uploaded 3 more playlists to Dr Who. Jim - I'm happy to upload FLAC files if you want them.
note to self - a lot of my library is still M4A. Going to have to recommence the ripping process again

Mostly '70s rock, showing my age I guess:

-
What method do you plan to use to enable uploads to the other genres?
-
We're thinking. It's an interesting problem.
The challenge is to end up with quality, not quantity. I think it will take some kind of "voting" system. We do this with cover art and it works really well.

Thank You!...I am also from that era (1953)...Whenever I listen to Your playlists, I have new emotions that never comed before...As if we have known each other for a long time and You invited me to Your home to listen to new, just bought, records (vinyl!)...I never experienced this before!...Creative Jim came up with a very interesting and useful toy for grown-up boys...Many thanks to him for this!... ;)

I missed the note about pasting the mpl after uploading:

I made these from a smartlist that I routinely play. Just went through and rearranged the sequence a bit. I like the idea of us uploading albums and then using a smartlist to put together playlists.
-
how bout some theme playlists....like songs about rain ....you get the idea right!
-
@hoyt - you can kind of do this now. The http// address of each file in a JRiver playlist is stored in the library so you just need to make an audio smartlist with filepath contains: http:// , genre is any : whatever you like then limit number: to how many you want in the list.
@~OHM~ you got me singing in the rain with that one ;D

Brilliant... I hadn't even considered that the http:// files were being added to the local library in some form at least. Oddly enough, some of the original ones I uploaded are https://s3.amazon-etc, whereas the last batch is http://RadioJRiver-etc.
-
Doubtless the change is part of a plan to widen upload capabilties, it also puts the brand out there. Must say that Jradio is working flawlessly 92 tracks , perfect gapless play and sounds great. Some of the classical tracks don't have embedded cover art and some don't have a genre tag - just minor really.

Hi JimH,
Here are some more uploaded playlists

Rock 11 https://s3.amazonaws.com/content.jriver.com/users/2321/526f636b203131.mpl
My last one failed as I have apparently reached my upload limit.
Any news about uploads to other genre?
-
Thanks. We can fix that next week.
Other genres soon. We need the design and foundation to be stable first.
-
swiv3d,
Could you include both parts of the listing? If it's easier, just forward the e-mail. I'm jimh at jriver.
They're great. Thanks for the help.
Jim

JimH
You have mail.
-
Thank you.
-
Forgive me for a stupid question but when uploading a playlist am I supposed to upload the FLAC files too?
-
I think you are probably intending to upload a playlist to Doctor Who in which case you don't upload any files. I don't think that uploading to the jriver radio site is generally available at the moment.
