I think MC25 comes with madVR 0.92.16. 0.92.17 has been here for more than a year. Is there a reason not to upgrade to 0.92.17?
-
This is an honest question because I don't follow the madVR development unless I'm having problems: What is the reason to upgrade?
-
Pretty sure JRiver tends to stick with the most stable versions of madVR, versus just using the latest version for the sake of stability.
-
The reason is I got blue screen of death on my Windows 10 PC when I clicked the horizontal slider bar to go to specific time when playing a video file. The blue screen pointed to nvlddmkm.sys. The is the first time it happened to me.
I know there are several reasons this could happen. I am trying to find out what could cause this.
-
If I recall correctly, nvlddmkm.sys is related to the Nvidia drivers, so it's probably not related to madVR itself. You might try updating your Nvidia drivers if you're not already using the latest, or doing a clean re-install of your drivers using a utility like Display Driver Uninstaller (which I highly recommend!) to remove the old drivers, then re-install the latest drivers.

There's a way to upgrade Madvr in JRiver MC25?
-
You could read about Red October on our Wiki, but the short answer is that you're on your own if you do that.

I would say there is no real benefit to the public 0.92.17 but if you use tone mapping then there is a v v v large benefit to the beta build (b95 is the last good one)

I use pixel shaders to process hdr and I can't use settings of the last version of Madvr on JRiver Mc25. Why?
-
Those testing versions are still very much in development and not suitable for us to include in Media Center.

Disagree for current W10 users. I had an issue with the madVR queues not filling that was solved by upgrading to 0.92.17.
