Title: FLAC tags weirdness
Post by: sKiZo on March 01, 2018, 12:39:47 pm
Got some new backup software that's supposed to be able to catch tag changes and update the files automatically on the backup drive. Tested it out after building the backup, then dropped a couple new files in the "watched" directories on the original drive. Those were flagged for updating fine. Also changed some tag data in JRiver, and those didn't get flagged.

OK then - time to experiment a bit.

- Tags look good in Media Center.
- Opened the same file in Audacity.
- Some fields are blank in Audacity's metadata editor. (Year and Genre for instance)
- Edited these tags in Audacity and overwrote the original file.
- Tags changed in Media Center to the new test values
- Changed the tags back to original values in Media Center
- Opened the same file in Audacity, and the metadata table still showed the test values

Huh? Where exactly is Media Center storing tag info? All my music is stored in FLAC using JRiver's internal ripper.

PS - "save in file tags if possible" under MANAGE LIBRARY FIELDS is checked.

** One of the other forums mentioned an issue with some tagging software not updating the file creation date when tag info changes. Could that be what's happening here?
