Title: Copying files with tag data
Post by: fieldgeoff01@gmail.com on June 02, 2017, 10:45:29 am
I have added a tag to my classical music FLAC files to identify a specific "Work", so I can have a view which selects files by "Composer", then "Work" then "Name."  This works fine on my home network, but when I copy my files to an external hard disc for use when I have no internet access the "Work" tag disappears.  I don't want to have to recreate a "Work" tag in the files on the hard disc, so how do I make sure the "Work" data is embedded in the files when I copy them over?

Any ideas please.

Check Options (CTRL +O) > Library & Folders > ... Manage Library Fields...

Find the "Work" field you created and make sure the following is checked "Save in file tags (when possible"

Also check Options (CTRL +O) > General > Importing & Tagging
make sure the following is checked "Update tags when file info changes

If one of these were not checked, you'll want to highlight all you files and Tools > Library Tools > Update Tags (from library)
