Title: Adding Pause/Play button to an IDPI
Post by: CrouchingOwl on December 29, 2020, 05:33:06 pm
So I've been imagining connecting an IdPi to my receiver/amp.  It occurred to me it would be cool if there was a way to connect an IDPI to some kind of hardware for basic media controls such as play/pause/next track/previous track.  That way if someone walked up to my desk and was interrupting my music or I needed to get up I could pause without having to fish my phone out of my pocket and unlock my phone first.  Has anybody found a way to do so, either by a bluetooth controller or by a hardware modification of the PI itself?

Plug in a USB keyboard, or any device that acts like a USB keyboard, or a Flirc.

So you are saying the media control keys common to keyboards would work just fine with no special implementation needed?

Yes.

Cool.  I was imagining something along the lines of this device.  According to the reviews android phones interpret the input as keyboard commands so in theory it might work.

No idea.  Sorry.

It might work, but you'd need a Bluetooth receiver.  Try searching on the Raspberry Pi forum.

I use a Logitech Bluetooth keyboard with mine and that works well.  Any Bluetooth keyboard would probably work.
