I have selected '12' check for updates and after a few minutes of updating my screen went black. My screen has remained black and I now cannot see the id !!! Any help with what may have happened and how I can resolve it would be gratefully received.
Many thanks in anticipation.

How long did you wait? It could take a while.

Pull the plug and reboot.

-

Thanks for the link but when I try to access the Id, I only see a black screen since the update failed so I can't see the GUI (or anything else). Is there another way of accessing the Id to follow your link, or can I reinstall the software on the memory card ?

Read further down. It uses a USB stick to re-load an Id image.

Hi, I've burned the image to a usb stick ok but how do I back up files from id when I can't see anything other than a black screen? When I connect id to my laptop it shows up on 'this pc' but wont open to allow me to see anything ?
-
It sounds like you're not going to be able to make a back-up of the library at this point. I doubt Media Center is running, but do you know if the Id is even showing up on your network? Does it have an IP address? If it is getting on the network and it has an IP address, you can access it from another machine. On Windows, in any file explorer window, where it shows the path, just enter \\<Id IP address> and you should have some access to some files.
Did you have a lot of files on the Id or are you just trying to get a library back-up?
-
Or pull the microSD card out and put it in another machine.

Hello,
I've connected the idpi to my laptop and it shows up on the network, double clicking the icon took me into the web remote playing now page where I can see my library. I can't get anything to play though. Connecting everything back through my hi fi and there is still nothing showing up on the screen (still black)
Any other thoughts on what I could do ?
Cheers

I've got hold of a spare raspberry pi 4 and putting the micro sd card in as suggested by JimH gives exactly the same results. I assume this means the pi's are ok and the problem is with the micro sd card, probably when it failed to complete the update option 12. Is there anything else I can do ?
-
Why don't you return the card and let us rebuild it. Just contact deanna at jriver to get the address.

Sorted, thanks, it's on it's way back
