Which HTPC?  Most would use a standard Media Center Remote similar to the one that we offer (http://wiki.jrmediacenter.com/index.php/Media_Center_Remote), and these will work for basic navigation and playback.

The image was missing on this page.

It looks like a Media Center Remote is included.  It's not certain to work, but it's probable.  If it works with Windows Media Center, it will work with MC.

The LCD won't work though.

thanks
I'm thinking of using MC14 with the remote on my laptop to start with an to try it out.
the laptop has XP Professional SP3. would this work with the driver as mentioned in your instructions for the remote?
does the remote also work for other movie playing software such as PowerDVD?

My understanding is that the LCD is run via a third party program that would require a MC plugin to work (or vice versa, MC needing the plugin). You may still be able to get your weather etc, as this would be part of the LCDs software, but not info from MC.

Please correct if I'm wrong.
