Title: Crash after starting MC
Post by: tonydennison on April 12, 2018, 02:40:20 am
I purchased JRiver earlier today. It crashes my Mac within a minute.

I need to get a refund. If I don't get one I will reverse my charge.

No offense,

Thank you,

TD

Turning off auto-import would tell you if you have bad files in your library, causing MC to crash. But you're not exactly clear in your description of the issue; is MC itself crashing over and over, or is the Mac itself crashing over and over? If it's the latter that's certainly not normal behaviour and knowing the hardware/OS details of your Mac would be helpful in troubleshooting. If it's the former, it's likely bad file(s) in your library.

I need to get a refund. If I don't get one I will reverse my charge.

This happens WAY too often. In my opinion potential users shouldn't blindly make software purchases without first running the 30 day free trial of JRiver Media Center. JRiver graciously allows their software to run in a trial capacity for 30 days - and it's a fully featured trial too with no trial feature restrictions!

Moral of the story is to always try before you buy to avoid issues like this.

I jumped the gun because it was recommended by my audio equipment manufacturer.

The entire Macbook crashes.

The fact that a company offers the option of a free trial does not obfuscate the duty to sell products that works. Basic warrantee law, and also there is the  72 return rule that is universal. The mention of the trial period is like saying "A car manufacture lets you test drive a car, and you buy the car and it doesn't work 1 hour later. Well, they  let you test drive the car, what are you complaining about?"

I am not interested in diagnosing a faulty product. No other program thinks I have corrupted library files.

If the tone of this email seems confrontational, it is not my intention.

The entire Macbook crashes.
When the OS crashes, it's usually a driver that causes it.

Did you try turning off auto-import, as suggested above?  Tools > Import

Are the files local or on a NAS drive?
