Title: IdPi Remote View Blank
Post by: hoyt on February 12, 2019, 05:00:42 pm
I haven't remoted into my IdPi in a long time, but was just about to move it from one location to another and thought I should remote in to shut it down before just yanking the power.  I see this.

I'm guessing that means it's basically locked up.  Engen works just fine, but Panel isn't loading.  That might be because I shut it down before though, I really don't recall.

Is it ok to pull the power?  I've read bad stories about pulling the power on Raspberry Pis and lost one once when the power dropped in my closet, so I created a backup routine for the SD cards on those.  But on the IdPi I can't do that, so I'm being a little more paranoid.

Thanks!

I just remembered to use an older RDP client and it worked.  Any idea why that would be?  I'm on Mac OS X and the "soon to be deprecated" Microsoft Remote Desktop V 8.0.44 worked to load the IdPi menu, but the new one, V 10.2.6 did not.

Check the new one's color settings (if it has them).
You should be using 24/32 bit color.

Thanks!  It was on 32 bit, I changed it to 16 (the only other option in the box in V10) and it worked.

Weird, it works for me in 32 with the same revision (10.2.7)

Yeah, I just changed it back to 32 and it worked in that version.  Since having this issue though, I did shut it down and move it.  So it might be a combination of things.  Either way, it seems to have resolved itself.
