What would cause MC to import audio files without artist, album and cut title?  All I get is Track 01......

if the files have no metadata (tags) embedded in the audio files, then there is no metadata to import. Probably what ever ripper you used was not configured to write to the file itself.

for info

If you have the file names such that they contain track number, name, album name, album artist, artist (if different from album artist) -- either in the file name or filepath, JRiver can rebuild this for you automatically. JRiver needs an album artist and album nale to look up tag information directly.

There are a couple of external programs that can search multiple databases for you and write the tags to the file. This can be time consuming however.

If you have recently switched from another program, you might be able to reconfigure that program to write its tags if contained only in its specific library to the files. Then you could re-import them. (if it happens to be itunes, though there are other things to not do, or prevent itunes from doing)
