Title: SACD and ISO
Post by: BigMac on April 02, 2012, 11:25:37 am
I have tried to play SACD ISO with Daemon and VirtualCD. but it does not work.  I can mount OK but cannot play music.  To play SACD ISO, it there any special setting, in order to play SACD ISO?  DVD and other ISO seems works but SACD ISO does not.

SACD inside an ISO is not currently supported.  It might make a nice addition someday.

It would be nice to support SACD ISO. It already has useful metadata and you only need to rip your SACD and that's it. No need to convert to DFF/DSF files. It would also save HDD space as I often save ISOs as a backup.

I have all my SACD ripped in ISO and I have not convert it yet, waiting for JRiver supporting SACD ISO.
Is it possible to have an idea if and when ISO will be supported?

Thank you

Would anyone be able to provide a sample SACD ISO to matt at jriver dot com?

I can't make any promises about adding support, but if we had a sample file, we could at least take a look and see what would be required.

Thanks.

BigMac was nice enough to provide a sample ISO file to me.

I'm hopeful that using his sample we'll be able to add SACD ISO playback at some point in the future.  I've played with it enough to see that playback isn't too hard.

Also, it would still be helpful to have a multi-channel (>2 channel) SACD ISO.  Please let me know (matt at jriver dot com) if you could help us with that.

Thanks.

I would like to provide the muti-channel SACD ISO that you want, but I don't know how to send to you using jriver dot com.
Please give me a hint.  ?

To prevent abuse of his email adress Matt wrote it the way you pronounce it. So Matt at JRiver dot com is his email adress, where at is the the "at" symbol and dot is a dot.
Is this what you mean ?

Thank you Matt.  Fantastic news, multi-channel will be great!! I didn't know how to send SACD ISO samples so thanks to BigMac.
Where you able to see how the tags looks like?
I hope the new function will be implemented soon.

Thanks

A coming build will have this:
NEW: Added basic support for playback of SACD ISO files (two channel only for now).

Playback will support PCM and DSD bitstreaming.

I'm getting a multi-channel ISO from BigMac now, and hope to add support for it at a later date.

This should work now in the build from the top of this board.  It's 17.0.155.

What happens when you drag the ISO into Media Center's Playing Now from Explorer?

you can use extract to create for instance dff/dif single files, then use korg's audiogate software which will convert to anything wav included...
