Title: BUG: Syncing to handheld in client/server no longer works
Post by: herr_schneider on June 24, 2022, 09:23:23 am
Hi.

I am trying - which worked iat least until MC 26 - to sync files to my handheld. I have a Linux based MC set up as server, a Windows based MC as client to that library and sync from the Windows to an USB attached Android device. Using windows explorer I can do all activities required: adding/deleting files and folders.

When trying to Synch using MC, it says "queued", then "downloading", "waiting", "uploading" and always returns "error" for any file. I tried the same for a "virtual" device (folder on hard disk), with the same result. I tried with and without conversion. I can see: a converted file on the server in the conversion cache, a local copy in the local conversion cache. Also, the MC client shows the converted files as part of a stack. So everything looks nice, apart from the last step: moving the transferred file to the target device.

Log attached.
Most recent / up-to-date Windows 10, 64bit

thanks,
Marcus

I don't think you can do Handheld sync over the PC MC client from the Linux MC server (or any MC server for that matter).
The files aren't files. They are URL's (look at the filename on the PC).

You'd need to Sync the handheld from the Linux box (which would require that it be mountable).

It's possible that functionality could be added since MC clients now have the ability to download tracks from the server.

Bob, at least until MC 26 synching by that scenario was absolutely possible. This was how I always did it, since years. And as can be seen from the log files and in the explorer, the files are actually transferred to the local temporary directory for further processing (upload).

Ok thanks. I'll have Matt look at it.

Is your device attached as a MTP device?

We'll try to sort this in the coming builds.  Thanks a lot for the help.

As mentioned in my response to 67 build, it is not working. Instead of some audiofile, the sync now puts files called "Getfile" to the target folder on my handheld. If the target is a local folder, files are put correctly, but extensions doubled (i.e. file.flac.flac)

Nudging this, as it is still the case with the 83 build.

thanks

This should be fixed when MC30 is released.
