Title: control HTPC with IPad
Post by: spik99 on January 02, 2013, 10:55:14 am
Hi,

I'm planning on builing a HTPC and connect it to my HT via HDMI... I'm interested in playing my MKV Movies and possibly stream music.

My interest is mainly to use my IPad as a remote control.  Not interested in watching movies/music in my IPad, I prefer my HT for this...

I'm starting to look at JRiver and wanted to know if I can do the following:
1. Can I use IPad to control JRiver installed on a PC ?
2. Is there support for streaming services like pandora/Spotify with JRiver ?

Thanks in advance.

OK, So the JRemote is the IPad app.  I believe this is the case, but wanted to confirm if JRemote has an option to play music/movies in IPad and HTPC ?

Also, I noticed that video files are limited to using MPEG-4 in JRemote... Is this the case if I want to play in IPad ?  What if I have MKV files in my PC ? and I wanted to play on my HTPC ?

Thanks in advance.

it will play/control everything on your HTPC.

It can stream music in many forms to the device.  Currently it only plays .mp4 vids to the device.

Will I be able to launch different applications on my PC with JRemote on IPad ?  If so... how does this work ??

Thanks in advance...

you can through theater view i think.  If so you can control with JRemote.  I dont do this so others will have to chime in.

Good luck to you,
