Title: "Content Protected" - Unable to use in JRM?
Post by: ewingr on November 12, 2005, 03:55:24 pm
I am using JRM (v10) on an HTPC, and have loaded all of my CDs.

I just purchased a new Chris Botti CD, and it will not play in JRM. I notice in the 'spline' of the CD case the words Content Protected.

It does come with it's own player, it seems. But of course, that defeats my whole setup.

Is there a way to put this into JRM on my Computer?

Or, is the use of HTPCs/Media Servers on teh way out?

The record labels are trying some new things with copy protection.  It may continue, or it may not.  Here's more on this subject.

With further looking at the software that boots off the CD, it allows me to copy it to my computer...WMA only, and only at 128K. No selection of settings. Of course, I like to use FLAK.

And it does not allow me to play from the CD off of the HTPC, either with JRM, or WMP.

This sucks! >:(
